broken storage door

We have a 2014 Montana I'm writing to see if anyone has a creative fix for this - other than a broom handle propping it open. One of the storage door's (for underneath storage) brackets for the hydraulic keeps pulling out. Already tried replacing with larger screws, filled the holes w/glue first. Hoping someone might have an idea. Thank you!
  • Put a larger block of wood and cover all the holes. Say piece 6" x 6", glue it and also use screws. If you have a bracket on both sides do both sides the same. When done reinstall old hardware.

Or even better do the above with the wood backing block, but drill holes and use machine screws all the way thru the block with flat and maybe lock washers on the backside.
  • I would try using Durham wood filler first. Its a powder that you mix with water which drys rock hard and can be drilled. Fill the screw holes with the paste, let dry and then redrill your screws. Just be sure to predrill your screw holes first with a slightly smaller drill bit.
