Buying a new 5th Wheel Trailer. Help!

Congrats on your RV purchase. If you are buying a new F350 make sure to include the tow package. You want to have a 7-pin plug inside the bed as well as on the bumper. That makes it easier to plug a FW RV to your TV. The bed of the truck will most likely be configured for a puck system type of 5th wheel hitch or you can have the BW turnover ball hitch mounted under the bed and then purchase a BW Companion that connects to the turnover ball hitch. BW also makes a hitch that will connect to puck design. Can't go wrong with BW. See if you can get the dealership to include the hitch in the truck sale.

We have had very good luck with RVs made by Forest River. However, they may not be very popular in California.

Glad to hear the National and State Parks are still an option for us.

We own a 35.6' FW and we only stay in national and state parks for most of the time. We have never had a problem finding a place to get into but, we wished we would have gotten between a 32- and 34 ft. Trust me, a foot and a half makes a big difference in some parks. Tara

Hard to go wrong with a B&W Companion of whatever flavor you decide on. If you go with a long bed, then no slider needed. If a short bed, you =might= want to consider a slider, especially if you get a 2wd truck. Usually a shorter turning radius than 4x4. I have an older Companion on my B&W Turnover Ball (gooseneck) base and wouldn't consider another hitch.

Outdoor rv makes glacier peak. Branch of north woods who make arctic fox.

Just discovered Glacier Peak (Oregon). Looks like high quality product. Do any of you know about them?

I really like the Augusta brand and factory direct approach but they are too big for our needs. Arctic Fox is the top choice as of now but we're going to the California RV show next month and hope to make a final decision then. Thanks to all who weighed in. This is a great forum and I appreciate the info and guidance.

Augusta RV sells direct, but as far as I know don't have anything small or under $100K to start.
