Campgrounds in/around Estes Park, CO?

Can anyone recommend a nice campground in or around Estes Park for us in June? We're pulling a 38' long KZ Stoneridge and I'm apprehensive about making reservations anywhere without knowing I can get in and out with relative ease. Great views and/or a peaceful river site would be awesome.

Any advise is appreciated!

I don't live too far from Estes, and have camped there quite a bit, both in RV parks and campgrounds.

KOA is sort of tight, like soemebody said, but I have camped there, and it is nice.

I think the prettiest RV park, by far, is www.paradiservcolorado.com. It is nice because they have sites RIGHT on the river. Hard to beat. If you can't get a river site, than I wouldn't stay there. Nothing special than.

However, it is extremely tight to maneuver in, but they do get bigger rigs in. The owners will typically help you maneuver your rig, if needed. In addition, it is probably already sold out for June, as it books up way in advance.

Anyway, something to consider.

Made reservations at Elk Meadows for early July. $59.00 per night unless you qualify for discounts. Thanks everyone!

what was the charge per night in Elk Meadow

Morain Park inside the park is great but it would be tough with a rig that size and it is dry camping.

I'm sure you have all the info you need but we have spent a total of 6 weeks at Elk Meadows in the past 2 years. As said, compared to others it is probably the best there is in Estes Park. It works is about the best I can say for it but if and when the elk wander thru it is a neat sight. It is close to the town and the park and highly recommend Smokin' Dave's Bar-B-Que, but go early as it gets crowded. We hiked in the park a lot and there are some beautiful sights on some of the trails.

Plus the KOA at Estes Park is right next to a riding stable! And the turns on very, very tight. We've stayed at Elk Meadow three times. It's pricey, but very close to Rocky Mt. National Park entrance and it does have good views. That said, the internet was iffy, the sites unlevel, and are dirty with lots of sticktights.
But, imho, it's the best there is at Estes Park.

Excellent information, thanks to all. I was going to ask about that KOA, as we tend to like them, but if its that tight ill avoid it.

I know of no campgrounds very close to Estes Park that have utility hook ups. Probably have to settle for an RV park instead.

We stayed at the Elk Meadow RV resort last year and drove through a number of the other campgrounds in the area. In my opinion Elk Meadow and Spruce Lake are the only two that are worth staying at. I will say this, with the size of your rig stay away from the KOA in Estes Park it is incredibly tight.

Here's a pic of our rig at Elk Meadow.

Suggest you check out rvparkreviews.com. I have found this site to be very helpful in finding campgrounds with excellent reviews and recent costs.

We enjoyed our stay at Spruce Lake RV Park in Estes Park, Colorado. No problem for a rig of your size.

Thanks Wildwood32, I'll take a look at that one. I should probably mention that full hook-ups (50 amp) are preferred, and that I do not own a generator.

Sayed at elk meadows,no to bad. There isn't much to do at the campground, pool is ok,hot tub iffy but that's not why I went there, went for the views and close to the entrance to the park.I would go there again.yes you can get in there,it's open and I had absolutely no problems in my 36' fifth wheel.
If its Friday, see ya on monday.Have camper, will camp.
