Just purchased a 2014 Mobile Suites Estates 39RESB3 5th wheel. Will be going full time work camping in 18 months. Now looking for truck and hitch. Saw an ad in Escapees Magazine for the Comfort Ride Hitch. Looks interesting, but expensive. anyone have any experience with this hitch? How doe it compare to the MorRyde pin box and IS suspension combo? thanks for your input.

Sometimes a side note comes up on a thread, get over it!!!

There is a block option, I don't use it. If I don't like or care what someone says just go to the next post. Really not worth getting upset about.

These Forums are about information.

BTW, I watched several of the Comfort Ride vids. Not really too impressed. If I were in the market for an air ride it would be the TrailerSaver.

Yes, Rusty, I understand - I've been on this forum several years. In my early years on the forum, I don't recall it happening as often.

Mike,

Welcome to the world of internet forums. You're certainly right - threads should always remain on topic, but they don't. A person asks a question (even if it's off-topic), and other posters respond. I guess your options are to ask that the thread remain on topic, report the thread to a moderator or live with it.

Hope you got the information you were seeking.

Be sure to get the Aisin Tranny in a RAM, which includes the HO CUMMINS. Currently 385hp/900tq.

Mike, I posted earlier in this thread that I have the Comfort Ride 245 installed in my truck. With the Mor/Ryde IS and pinbox on our trailer and the CR hitch the ride is very smooth. I am sure the air bag hitches work good as well, I just did not want to go that route.

Thanks Cummins12v98. Great input on the RAM. I did like the Duramax/Alison but I don't think I'll like it at the weight I'll be at. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm leaning to the RAM. It will need to be a everyday drive around vehicle also. I'm still a ways off until I get the truck so I'll be looking around for awhile.

Thanks again for the comments. Safe driving back to Indiana.

Thanks! When GM puts out a new truck I am sure they will be upping their numbers just like Ford will be for 2017.

As a side note I am keeping track of the RV and cargo haulers along the way. Not surprised at RAM having 22 so far but that Ford had 8 and GM only 2. All RAM's were dually's Two Fords were SRW and both GM's were SRW.

Good looking rig. Thanks for the input. Starting to lean more towards the Dodge.

Thanks for the earlier compliment.

First thing ya need to get used to is it's officially a RAM. Been that way legally since 2013.

I can honestly tell you this truck handles the 32,500# combined load I have with ease. I am on my way to Elkhart, IN from SoCal. Along the way there are some very long 6 percent grades up and down and windy roads. Once we came onto I-40 at Flagstaff we decided to cover some ground and towed 75mph. There are some nice short grades along the way. I passed every trucker on any grade we were on. The slowest we dropped to was 70 in 5th. The trans temp never exceeded 167 even with temps in the low 90's. Water temp dropped rapidly whenever the fan kicked in. Not going to BS the mileage was 7.4 hand calc towing at 75 but was worth the small extra expense.

The Cummins, Aisin, 4.10 combo can't be beat along with the high front, rear and combined ratings. The rear air ride is worth the $1,350 they charge for it. It keeps the truck sitting in a nice level stance loaded or not. Plus the ride is great for a big truck.

Ar far as the quality of the truck is concerned it is quiet, rattle free and the fit and finish is top notch. The interior of the LongHorn is second to none, Limited is pretty nice also.

If you take a RAM dually for a test drive be sure they air down the rear tires to 35 so you can see what it will ride like running around solo. That is more then enough pressure for an empty truck.

Hope I answered your question.

OK, here's an opinion from a real user. I've been towing 5th wheels with Ram duallies for 20 years. 15 of those years have been with Cummins-powered Rams - the only exception was a 1996 Ram 3500 dually with an 8.0L V-10 gasser. None have ever left me on the side of the road, and all have given excellent service with minimal problems. Here's our current rig:
