Converting my dully to a 10 wheel drive to handle Toyhauler

I have gone where most will no go. I am in the process of adding a 2nd drive axle. I am doing the work myself. As you can tell from the pics. I have came a long ways. I just have the bed work to finish the project. I will be extending the bed & dully fenders to have a full bed. Let me know what you think.

The reason I am doing this is to handle the toy hauler better on the road.

Hmm, I wonder what it would look like with 2 single wheel axles instead of duallys. That could be a cool thing to try on my 250!

Totally awesome fab work. I love this thing!

What did you decide on the transfer case?

You had mentioned a NP200 but I'd stay away from that one. It wouldn't take the output from your Cummins.

I'd take a look at the NP205. If you look for one that was in a pre-77 F250 they are divorced with a yoke on the input for a stubby drive line from the transmission. The NP205 was stock for Dodge pickups into the 90's.

You can run the input into what was the rear output. You'll have the input to run to the front axle and the front output to run to the rear axle. You can get a dual shift kit to separate the rear and front shift functions. You'll want the rear output locked into high range all the time so the input from the engine is engaged always. Then you could use the front selector to engage the rear axle.

Unless you want to go with a NP203 and run both axles all the time :B

This is the info I am looking for. Thank you.

PS: I bought a Dana 24 which Iam going to rebuild. What do you think of the Dana 24. I seems to be a pretty well built case. I read up on it. And it seems the bearings are the weak part. But good replacements fix that. Again, Thanks

Like a lot of folks, I have done a lot of "home" projects, fabrication needs for my dragbike, and I'm in the process of building a trailer to pull behind my Harley, but the mods you are making are on an unbelievable level that I would never, and could never attain for a home project. Keep the updates coming. People like you keep the aftermarket alive, after they copy your ideas. GREAT WORK!

Thanks for the complament. Thinking about starting driveline this week.

Did you paint or powder coat the rear wheels? In your earlier photos, the rear wheels were chrome. Did you buy new wheels?

Great photo album, thanks for sharing. I meant to ask you, have you posted this project on the dodge diesel forum http://www.cumminsforum.com/gallery/showgallery.php/cat/501? there are alot of members over there that would get a kick out of this project.

Looks much more finished with some paint and matching wheels. Again, nice work. Not for me but I can appreciate the effort.

Now, how would it mud bog?

Not sure about mud bog. Drivetrain is not hooked up yet. That is another major task.
