Cougar needs a place to stick it!

I have a 2004 Cougar 5th Wheel Model 286 EFS and I cannot find where the manual over ride crank thing-a-ma-jig is located for the slides.

My kitchen slide won't open, thank god while it is in the closed position so I could get home and I've searched and cannot find where the manual over ride crank goes to extend/retract the slide. I looked on the living room slide and can't find that mechanism either.

I bought the Cougar used, so no manuals. The Cougar comes with the "Polar Package", so the underbelly is enclosed. Is that where the manual slide over ride mechanism might be??? I have the crank handle....just no where to stick it!!!!!

Thanks

I have a '06 Cougar 290EFS and there is a screwed on panel in the under belly about 8"x8". Take it off and there is large nut to turn with a socket wrench or an open end wrench to take your slide in or out. Good luck.

We have a 294RLS Cougar bumper pull and ours is the same as above. I have a box end ratchet wrench that makes it easier. You have to climb underneath the RV to see the little hatch door.

  • We use to have this camper but a 2005. Did you look by or next to the steps for a hole to insert crank?
  • If it's like my 2004 Everest you don't really have a "crank". If it's hydraulic like mine, there is a plug on the end of the pump that you are suppose to be able to slide a hex tool into to spin the pump manually with a drill motor. My pump is up against the wall to the front storage so there is a plug in the wall so you can come in thru the wall with an extension to turn the pump. That crank handle you have, if it's like the Everest is for the front landing gear manual lift.
