Since there does not currently seem to be a Jayco owners forum, Moderator Frank has graciously allowed this thread. It will be for discussing Jayco related questions and comments. Anything not Jayco related will be deleted. Sounds more than fair to me. Thank-you Frank!

Yeah, I have the 2nd a/c on mine and mine will go down all the way. I checked it with the ant just a few inches raised from the roof and it cleared the a/c.

Unless it says "Eternabond" on it the product isn't close and will likely lift over time unless you do the edges with caulking. Eternabond will last nearly forever.

I've spent lots of time on the roof these last couple days. I cleaned all the areas around all the rips that I'd duct taped on Monday. It looks like the tape and the tarps did the job during the heavy rains. Applied new duct tape to cleaned areas and now have added sef-sticking Instant Rubber Roof Repair. Is this the equivalent of Eternabond? I have a gallon of sealant ready and waiting for the temps to stay above 50 degrees for 24 hours. Currently 52, but getting colder overnight. Fingers still crossed that no pin holes cause any problems until I get up there again with the sealant.

Hey loydt, do you have the second air-conditioner in the bedroom? We couldn't figure out how to use the wingman on our antenna because with it installed, the antenna wouldn't lower all the way -- wingman hit the AC!

Have fun in Daytona. Carefree travels!

Spent most of day yesterday prepping mine for Daytona. Heading out this Thursday. Did a lot of stuff that has been driving me nuts for a while. Cleaned up all the wiring in the basement by running it through flexible conduit and securing it to the floor area so is hidden by joist, etc. I also figured out how to install a permanent TV ant connection down there. Now, we can watch HD tv and satellite on the flat screen in basement! Also installed the "wingman" for the roof ant. This is supposed to boost the HD signal. Will see. No luck yet on LED bulbs for the tail/brake lights yet.

Does anyone know what the max amp load of our battery charging unit is? Harbor Freight has a little cheap generator on sale. I'm looking for something to take to the unit while in storage and use to charge the batteries while I'm maybe doing a few things. Maybe something for boondocking.

Sincerely sorry, L & M Music, to hear of your misfortune, and I do hope you can weather the weather with the temporary repair. So far so good for us and no major incidences with this trailer but I did rip the awning on our 2000 designer when a too tight camp ground road forced me into some branches on a turn.

Rains came and more are coming! I hope the wind isn't strong enough to raise the tarp and lob the bricks off the roof. However, I shall persevere when the sun shines and use the mighty Eternabond!!!

I don't mind the cosmetics of it so much -- just hate the thought of an undetectable leak haunting me!

Thanks for the commiseration, Ed! Always nice to know we're not the only ones.:C

Argh!!!!! He did it again! While circling the block to gain access to the diesel pump at a gas station on our way to Houston, he did very well concentrating on the width of the rig. However, he neglacted to monitor the height and ripped the side of the roof again with the trees! We got the gas and drove a couple miles to an empty parking lot. He offered to do it, but I got up on the roof, cleaned the surfaces around the 11 or so nicks and rips and covered them with duct tape. I sure hope I got them all. We arrived at the campground around 6:00, and the duct tape looks like it's holding, but it's supposed to rain a lot in the next couple days. I'll be heading to Home Depot to get tarp and bricks to provide additional coverage. There's also gotta be a way to make that stuff stronger and rip resistant!! How about many layers of patching?

Congrats, Just campin. Careful driving out there!

Sorry to say, we felt your pain. (Hit an oak tree at 3am)We used a tarp and duct tape as a temporary fix until we got to a RV shop. We followed the tech's suggestions and it lasted 3+ weeks while traveling from Miami to DC and then some. We then had to have the front repaired and a new roof installed.
--Clean with spic and span and dry.
--Use the roof sealant over rip plus at least 1 inch.
--We had a large hole so we cleaned and taped over with white duct tape then applied sealant. Worked well and didn't look so bad either. Thank goodness we have great insurance. They paid for the roof and the front side I scraped up getting out of the mess that ripped up the roof. Why do lessons have to cost so much? And yes, we now carry all of the above suggested materials ๐Ÿ˜ž
