Since there does not currently seem to be a Jayco owners forum, Moderator Frank has graciously allowed this thread. It will be for discussing Jayco related questions and comments. Anything not Jayco related will be deleted. Sounds more than fair to me. Thank-you Frank!

Hi everyone. Get this, our counter top has cracked from the right rear corner of the stove back to the wall. Called our dealer to see if it can be fixed and was told it should be replaced. Jayco wants $2550.00 plus $100.00 for crating and $250.00 for shipping. I guess it's not that noticeable.

I could drive to the factory for less than 350.00.
The price of the top seems out of line also. Get ahold of a local countertop dealer and have them measure for one. Bet it's less than that.

Just saw this posted via Facebook:

Jayco is recalling certain model year 2007 Greyhawk Class C motorhomes; model year 2008 and 2010 Seneca Class C motorhomes; model year 2009 and 2011 Eagle Fifth-wheel; 2010 Recon fifth-wheel; and model year 2008-2010 Designer fifth wheel vehicles manufactured from June 15, 2006, through August 13, 2010 for an improper electrical connection at the buss bar on the Iota-brand transfer switches installed in the vehicles. An improper electrical connection at the buss bar could lead to overheating and melting of the transfer switch, increasing the risk of a fire, injury or death. Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will replace the transfer switch, free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during August 2012. Owners may contact Jayco at 1-800-283-8267.

Did you damage the rear stabilizers even with both legs all he way up? They should help but you can still install rear rollers. Etrailer.com which is up the road from us has a few versions. I would stick with the small metal ones and keep them as high as you can and still be effective. You still want to avoid relying on them as you can still get frame damage. I haven't had a need but on my car hauler I am going to be installing them.

Haven't been out in ours in about one and a half months. Planning on taking a winter trip somewhere though. We have been avoiding traveling with a sick animal. Early this week we finally put our little old kitty to rest. The stress of travel was hard on him so we wanted the last few months to be comfortable.

Hello Everyone, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Been a while since we've revisted the group. Hope everyone is well. We've graduated to empty nesters but we still need to remain part of the workforce until we get debt free, whenever that is. The 5vr is holding up very well so far. Seems every big trip we take I get to replace something due personal error. This trip I had to replace the rear leveling jacks, Texas is nice and level except the parking lot I pulled into. Darn those are close to ground. I did find a great source for the new one though. Has anyone installed "scraper wheels" ? I'm experimenting with ideas to prevent this in the future, I'd be interested in what y'all have done.

L&M Our bed lifts go to the outside of the supports and miss the plastic guide completely, I'm fixing that setup over the winter.

Has anyone had problems with the ladder mounts? One of mine "popped out" and I can't source a new one.

Hope to hear from the group to hear how your days have been.

Happy Camping!

Hi, I've been away from the forum and this thread for quite awhile but was pleased to see that some familiar names are still around.

We had the hot water mixing valve replaced in Mesa last January. The company that replaced it said that the new part was an improvement on the old and was cleanable whereas the older type was not. I should hope so because I think, from the price, that it was cast in solid gold.

We also have experienced the broken drawer under the couch, but in our case it came pre-broken and repaired with angle brackets straight from the factory. I guess I should have raised (an nasty fuss) but I just shook my head and promised myself to fix it properly some day. I'll have to do that when I get a roundtoit so if anybody has one to spare please sent it to me.

Also I was pleased to hear that there were no injuries despite the damages caused by tornados and a fire. I'll be looking into that wiring situation because we've had water in that general area from a leaky drain in the shower.

In as much as I love the 35 RLTS I also found it too big for short trips and weekends. The size and height especially being a problem in our provincial parks with campgrounds designed in the 60's for much smaller trailers. We bought a used 26' Sprinter TT last year for weekends and for trips where we just didn't want to haul the weight of the Designer. The Sprinter has served us very well, and, while it does not compare with the Designer for comfort, it's actually not too bad with its little slide and long couch. We've been using it for several weeks for our current trip to Canada's Atlantic provinces with no problems at all so far. I think we'll save the Designer for snowbirding to Arizona and our periodic trips to the Oregon Coast from now on.

I've had a couple of visits with Cruz and recommend that if you are ever in the vicinity of Cougar, Washington, stop in and say hello. They are in a lovely spot just south of Mt.St. Helens and will definitely make you welcome.

Cheers,

Dave

Hey -- Anybody with the 2008 35 RLTS -- when you raise the bed, do the silver metal guides/supports line up on the white plastic rectangles or on the wood?

Smoke alarm goes off at 1:15 am Sunday morning. I have a 2008 35 RLSA Designer. If you have a kitchen in a slide out please check your flex line that drains your sink into it's gray tank. Ours did not move correctly and looks to have been colasping since new before it finally cracked. Jayco installed a mounting bracket to hold the flex pipe and our problem was right at the end of this bracket. The water that came out ran on to the floor inches from two junction boxes and a receptical for our central vac. It was the central vac outlet that caught on fire, thankfully the same water kept the fire from getting out of control. None of these wires are protected by a GFI circuit and the flex pipe Jayco used is not very flexible. I don't have a fix yet, and I don't have a picture to post. If you open the door to your central vac remove the two screws holding the plywood in place and behind it you can see everything. I will be moving my outlet and junction boxes off the floor incase we have another leak. If anyone is talking to Jayco tell them about this post.
