Dexter leaf spring

Why Drexter can't strait their parts number right.I try to get Dexter p/n 072-027-00 and it come in three different length.Anybody replace the leaf spring and don't have any problem.I got 7000 lb axle.
  • I bought my Dexter springs from E-trailer. And yes you need to measure the length before ordering.

Try a local spring shop if you have one , that is what I use .
I used one of them too. Was suppose to be real good. They put the wrong spring on my 12K GVW Montana and I broke one and the others were flat. Had them redo at their expense with right stuff from E-Trailer.
  • I know that leaf spring are very picky you don't replace with the right one you looking for problem. That why I order the Dexter one.
  • You saying you ordered all new springs, same part number, and they are three different lengths?
  • Yes depend of the distributor. That why I order from Dexter hopping will be the right one.
  • What is confusing is that some dealers give the unsprung length, and some list the compressed length. When they say 25-1/4" that is with no weight on the spring. Your axles are most likely on 33" centers, so that will dictate which spring you need.
  • The confusion is in the length of the spring like I said depends of the distributor the P/N it come in 24 7/8,25 1/4 and 26.
