I’m curious, When you stop for the night at Walmart, Park etc do you unhook? With my fifth wheel I have to open a small bedroom slide with the dresser and a large slide with the kitchen table and theater seating. Both on the park side of the Coach. What do you guys do? Do you stay hitched and deploy the jacks?

Leave hooked up if reasonably level. Jacks down to take out some of the bounce.

The more you look like camping the more restrictions for the anti RV types. Stay hooked up, jacks up, slides in, etc.

If just crashing for the night (arrive 8-9pm on the road 7am), we generally don't do that but I would just leave it hooked up.We also made a priority to have full access while slides are in. For single night stops where we arrive 1-4pm and depart 9-11am, yeah, we typically unhook. We usually are going out to see or do something and it gives a chance to top up the fuel tank without the trailer.

We've done it both ways, if we need to use tow vehicle for whatever reason we detach, otherwise we quickly drop stabilizers and get some shuteye. When having to overnight when trying to get as far as possible, usually we arrive between 10pm to midnight and just stay attached, have done the same when arriving late at private parks, just hookup to shore power and get some sleep. Whatever the scenario we don't fret the hitching/unhitching process as it takes just a few minutes, it is more a matter of what you personally prefer at the time of arrival.

Unhook, refuel. Rehook depends on location and weather forecast. I refuel every stop and I don't drive at night. I prefer to stay at Sam's Clubs and they have yet to have a problem with whatever I do.

I guess I understand the emergency aspect if someone with you is ailing and may require attention. Other then that I can’t see the advantage? To me it’s like the RVer I met who never put out his awning because the wind could blow.

Same here, like the idea of the truck ready to roll in a hurry in the middle of the night if needed.

We travel with pets and make a effort not to use those overnight spots but when we do so we stay hitched with the jacks down for support and stability.

If we are just staying overnight we’ll stay hooked up. But we’ll crank up the tongue jack if necessary to take a little jiggle out of the trailer when walking around.
