electric fireplace

I see where someone installed an electric fireplace for his RV can

you buy it at LOWES OR Home Depot or do you get it from an RV dealer.

The job you did looks great.
  • I bought one from electricfireplacesdirect.com. They have a large selection and had one that fit perfectly in my cabinet leaving me little more than making trim for it. And providing electric of course.

    From this:

    To this:

  • Yes, you can buy them anywhere as long as it fits. Sometimes the ones that come in their own cabinet are less expensive and can be removed and installed. Or, as I did, left portable (mine is on wheels) and save the cabinet space. BB_TX did a very nice job on his install.
  • I got mine from HD. It came with the cabinet which I never used as the unit itself fit almost perfect without it.
  • I ordered one from an electric fireplace supplier on line. I measured the area where I wanted to install the fireplace and ordered a model that would fit with just a small modification to the wood cabinet in the 5th wheel.
I removed two drawers and the area where the radio/CD player was installed.
    The fireplace fit perfect.

The fireplace heater/blower comes in handy on those cold mornings. It heats up the living area to a comfortable temperature in a short time. The ambiance of the fake fire and crackling sounds provides a similar soothing that a real fire does.
  • Thanks for all the replies i am going to look into it, sounds like an easy install for a retired cabinet maker. thanks again....
  • You should not get an electric fire place. They don't have a chmnie. How will Santa get in? And I'd be concerned about him getting electrocuted! He's been fire proofed for centuries, now he will have to upgrade his suit to make it electricity insulated. Poor guy. He's getting older now you know. He might be electronics challenged!
  • DutchmanSport, so we should go back to rigs with an old stove pipe coming out the roof just for Santa?? Great idea, more gifts we might get for the RV....;)
  • If your going to upgrade to a fireplace why not look into the newer infra red fireplace instead ?.We have a fireplace in our 08 Bighorn but I understand the newer infra red fireplaces are a lot more effecient.
  • What is the diffence in a reg. elect. fireplace and the infra red fireplace an where do u get them?
