Electrical hook up

I have a 2006 Keystone Montana with a factory generator prewire (no generator installed). I have recently purchased a honda 3000-UI generator that I want to carry in the bed of the truck and hook into the trailer with a 30 amp cord. Does any one have a wiring diagram for wiring into the factory transfer box on my trailer.
Thank you
  • I thought about this on my Komfort so I could run a genny from the truck bed while traveling. I have no gen-prep =or= compartment, so the alternative is to run the main cord from the extreme a$$-end either under or over the FW to the bed. Should I ever get a genny, I'll spend the $$ and have a cargo rack added to the back of the FW and mount there.

    I'll agree here.

More work than it would be worth over just plugging the Honda in.
  • If you have a transfer switch, it would be used when the genny is on board the camper, not in the truck. You would have to wire from the transfer switch to the genny and if it is in the truck how are you going to wire it. I would just plug it in. As the honda is 3000 watt it would be limited to a 30 amp plug, not a fifty, so if you have a fifty amp service you will need a 50 to 30 amp adapter and then expect to have some things not work.

X2. That is what I am going to do, if the need arises.
  • Likely you have an IOTA 50 Amp Transfer Switch. Here is a link to the Owners Manual and how to wire it up.
