Fill in fresh water tank

Quick question because I’ve run out of time searching and need to get on the road. Cedar Creekers, how do you fill fresh water tank? We have 2016Cedar Creek 36ckts. The manual is generic for all forest river and my valves look nothing like that. I tried calling Cedar Creek but had to leave message. Any help would be appreciated. I’ve filled it one time before but it was when we first got it and I can’t remember how I did it. Nothing I try is sending water to the tank. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you have not used your water pump for a while it may need to be primed. To do that, I turn the valve like I am pumping antifreeze into the system. Using a small funnel, pour water down the intake hose while the pump is running. It might take a bit, but if the diaphragm has dried out a bit this should fix your problem.

Close all water valves. If you have an outside shower make sure those valves are turned off. Open the cold low-point drain valve only. Turn on pump and verify water can be pumped out the low-point drain. If not, you are not picking up water from the tank.

No split pipe and we already checked valves. Confirmed when stopped, it is coming from overflow. When I turned cut off valve for fresh water, water ran out like tank was full. We had run for a little while trying to fill so it actually could be full even though indicator says it’s empty. Now to figure out why pump isn’t working. We will probably drain water completely to verify how much is actually in there before we decide for sure indicator is wrong. Then we will refill and try to figure out why pump isn’t priming.

Or maybe a split pipe?

Sounds to me like the bypass valve for sucking in antifreeze for winterizing is in the wrong position.

Update: we stopped at a roadside and I checked the fresh drain. Valve is shut. I turned it and water came out. The indicator light shows it is empty but I now believe it is full and water running out overflow. Brother-in-law is behind us and said every time we go up hill water spills out. We’ve been camping with no issues for 10 days and are on the way home to Texas from Colorado. We used bottled water to flush while traveling to Colorado (didn’t want a lot of extra weight in the mountains going up) but wanted to fill tank a little for ride home. I guess it’s full but pump will not prime to use water. We have lever turned to gravity. We will keep using bottled water while on the road and check out pump when we get home. Thanks again everyone. This is a great group full of helpful people.

Sounds to me like your fresh water tank drain is open. Close it and see what happens.

If so turning valve to gravity should fill tank.

Suggest you open fresh water drain to see if there is water in the tank already

hope this helps.

This is exactly like ours. It did not fill the fresh water tank though when we turned to gravity. It ran straight to the ground at the fresh drain. It was not overflowing either. I thought at first maybe the tank was full and indicator was not working (it shows empty) but when turn pump on, there is no water. Even tried to allow to prime pump. Nothing. Was afraid would burn pump up so turned off. When we get where we are going, I’m going to check drain and see if valve or cap (not sure what is there) is open. Perhaps it was never closed when draining a couple of years ago??? Not really sure. Thanks for your reply. This helps to at least know I wasn’t crazy and was at least doing it correctly.

Put lever to "gravity". Tank will fill. Drain for tank is valve just behind rear streetside wheel. I have a 2016 36 CKTS. I don't tow with much if any water in the tank, but that's just me.

I’ll have to do it later. I want to know how to do it but we went ahead and got on the road without water.
