Finding amp draw

I have a 24' Toy hauler with two 6v batteries. Battery connection has two positive wires and two ground wires. One set of wires is regular gauge and not a heavy gauge that main power is. When the smaller gauge wires are connected, both batteries lose volts. When disconnected, no volt loss. How can I trace the end location of the two smaller wires that connect to the battery? Any ideas on what these two leads would be for? thank you

    the Jack should only draw when it's running.

    Do you have a disconnect switch? Your main phantom draws should be from the smoke/O2/LP detectors.

    The largest set of wires might be to start the generator. Smaller set of wires power the trailer. There are clamp meters that really come in handy. You clamp the tool around the wire and it reads amp draw.

    Like the other fella mentioned you can start pulling fuses until the amp draw goes away. With a clamp meter, and someone watching the reading, you should be able to find the circuit quickly.

    You storage compartment might have a light on and you dont realize it during daylight hours.

    sounds like the brakes may be engaged. Safety pin in place for the breakaway switch? Large wires are for the house.

    First think I'd look at is the breakaway switch. Perhaps your brakes are being energized. If it's a pretty good spark when you disconnect that's a sign of a substantial draw.
