Ford PS 2015

I'm in the market for a new PU to tow my 13,000 gvw WW FSW 3200. The deals on the 2014 around here are $5000+ right off the top... a considerable savings.

Trying to get more familiar with the new gen 2 6.7 PS 2015 Fords compared to the gen 1 2014 PS 6.7. Need some help here guys...

Have read about some people's mpg being much less on the 2015. Is this true..?

There's a nice loaded 2014 350 sb cc srw Platinum that stickers for $65,200, it caught my eye. I was quoted $57,900 at my dealer. Its a sweet truck...
They have many nice Platinum 350 & 250 2015, and 2015 Lariat's, but won't discount them much at all. They're very proud of the new 2015.

On the short test drives I've done, can feel a slight difference in power delivery and smoothness on the 2015... maybe. Without a load on hard to tell what the difference in towing will be, but more power can't be a bad thing,,, right..?

On the 2015,to me, the new second generation Ford 6.7 better crank bearings and crank, upgraded torque convertor/tranny, the improved fuel system, improved cooling system, improved oil cooling lines and new the sensors are more important than the 860/440. Don't understand no waste gate, how do they regulate boost now? Will this be a problem for aftermarket tunes...?
I like the added power, but the 2014 don't seem anemic at all to me...

So whats the word guys...? Go for the old 2014 and the savings, or spring for the 2015 with the engine/tranny improvements. Will there be bugs in this new gen 2 6.7..?
Are all the gen 2 improvements that much improved, compared to the $avings of a 2014...?

The turbo upgrade for the 2015 is for better exhaust braking and better performance at high altitude. I drive a 2011 6.7 PS for work (82,000 + miles) and the exhaust brake is not even comparable on it to the Cummins or Duramax ebrake. The 2015 changed that, and the ebrake works as well as the other 2 brands, plus it has a switch to turn it on and off. I'd go for the '15.

After Ford's 6.0 Liter disaster, there is no way on God's Green Earth I would purchase another Ford.

Seeing how it wasn't quite the disaster portrayed and the last 6.0 Super Duty was 7 years ago that makes perfectly good sense...Ignorance is bliss...

Which is why I bought my truck 6mos after the 2011 model was released.

I like to buy something that has been tried and tested over time and not the latest/greatest. With Ford however its nearly impossible to find something tried and tested because it seem like every few years they jump ship and try something new. I'm not one for being a $60K test bed for the manufacturer.

Because you can take the money saved on the leftover to make improvements that you can notice vice buying the newest and getting the improvements that you will probably only see on paper....

2015 marks the first round of improvements made to the 6.7 since inception. They made some significant improvements. If you have the money to get a 2015 than it really should be a nonissue. Your spending big money get the latest and greatest that Ford can give you. Why spend your money on what is essentially a 2011 truck (technologically speaking).

You can go online and read complaints about Cummins, Duramax and PowerStroke... It doesn't matter which you get if you try to play the numbers, you may end up with one trouble-free or you may end up with a lemon. The achilles heel for all of them is very simple... DPF/SCR/EGR.

Personally, I chose the 6.4L over the 6.7L and it was a great choice for me. Stock for stock, the playing field is pretty level.

waste gate has been replaced by more modern ( like 20 years ago !! ) variable vane geometry turbo.. from my research, the old 7.3 ford is the one to get.. bit of a slug but bombproof engine..
newer PS has bad reports.. I've been in the market for a big diesel for a while now and chose ram2500hd laramie with cummins 6.7 .. from what I can determine, it's statistically a better engine..
forget aftermarket tunes with all this DPF/CAT emissions stuff now..
the days of "rollin coal" are numbered.. epa has got u by the cajones now.. LOL

I had no regrets getting my 2005 model over the 2004 even though I could have saved a few thousand. The additional capacities have paid for themselves and make this truck very competitive in towing and hauling (even against some newer models). I knew I would be keeping the truck long enough that a year difference in make will not change my selling price much, but I feel the model year changes will make it sell better than a 2004.

I hope my blabbing about my truck will help you decide which truck you will want.

Always go for more power! The 6.7L aren't as tuner friendly as was the reigning tuning champ... the 6.4L. Every truck made has issues, that's why we get warranties...

Flaws? Maybe that 40 hp & 60 ft lb of torque had something to do with it. That and they are nice marketing bullet points. Just because they "upgrade" something. doesn't necessarily mean it was flawed.

With over 30 years in the fleet business I can tell your for sure things only change because there is flaw or they found a cheaper way to make it.
The exhaust brake has to be selectable: down hill on a slick road can be a disaster if it kicks in automatically.

My 2012 F350 diesel moves my 17,000lb 5th wheel like it isn't there. I can tow with the cruise on and it doesn't come out of 6th until I hit a decent sized hill. My old 6.0L would shift all the time.

These new motors are awesome.

Wow, $14,000 off..!!! You're the man BB_TX.
Wish I could find those prices here in S FL. And many left over 2014 SD at every Ford dealer here. Best deal I've got so far is about $7500 off. I might need to fly to TX and pick up one of those $13,500 off deals on my way to Saint Anthony... lol. What city in TX is advertising them with those deep discounts...?

In Dallas area. Prestige Ford is currently advertising $13K off MSRP on Superdutys on their web site. And I believe it was Sam Pack Ford that had $13.5K off MSRP in the paper last weekend. Both included extra $1K off for using Ford credit. But you can refinance with someone else afterward if you want.

When I bought, Prestige Ford was showing $14K off. When I went in, they said yes, $14k off, no questions asked.
BUT. I had gone on their web site, clicked on their link to get a value for my trade-in, and it showed $22K. When we got to talking trade they offered $16K. I said sorry, your web site said $22K and I started to leave. They bumped their offer to $18k. Started leaving again. After one more offer and start to walk, we finally we agreed to $21K for mine plus a 5th wheel hitch at their invoice price rather than their list price. Probably could have gotten the full $22K but was starting to run late for another event. Overall that only took an extra 30 minutes or so. They get very agreeable when you start for the door.
