Front level for pin box

We have always had the large level mounted to the pin box on our fivers. made it easy to check level from the cab.

The new (to us) fiver has the plastic cover with a hitching light mounted in it so I can't see mounting it there.

So what level works well and where does it mount?

Can you remove the plastic shroud? I'm thinking it's just for looks more than function. Never did understand why mfr's were putting them on. If you remove it, then the pin box is wide open to attach a level of your choice.

We had ours on for two or years and never a problem. It is very touchy to get put on level. Worked well though.

I took a peek at the one Dave has. Found it humorous that one review said the ball started rusting and suspected they used water for the liquid. :h
