Garmin rear camera

Anybody tried the Garmin wireless camera for the RV760LMT?

I've read reviews and not impressed (grainy, poor resolution), but I don't want to add yet another display screen in the cab. If I have to I have to, but open to what others have experienced including other cameras. I'm over budget for this project, so I don't want to drop a lot of money. Some of the really cheap systems are reported as getting fogged lenses which trashes them as well.
  • I'm very pleased with mine. It's not for watching HD movies, but it suits my purpose (backing up the truck to hitch TT by myself and backing out of tight parking spots when traveling but not towing).
  • My Gsarmin BC-20 camera works well. No it is not HD quality resolution however the image is adequate for a back up camera.
I had to get the additional extension cable to get a reliable picture. But once hooked up unit works well from the rear of my 40' 5'er to cab of truck.
I really like the fact that camera image displays on the GPS screen and I don't need an additional monitor.
  • Ours is factory installed and works great. I actually use it for a rear view camera and not GPS. Lost the signal for about 10 seconds going from OH to FL and back.
  • That's encouraging! I guess part of the resolution is blamed on the Garmin GPS itself, as I was a little disappointed in the resolution it had out of the box.

It looks like a small camera, did everyone just go to the license plate area?

Lantley, with the extension cable where did you end up putting your front antenna?
  • I just returned the Garmin Nuvi 2798LMT with the BC20 camera. I liked the GPS, but the camera was just too grainy and dark to be useful. Too much money for something that does not work as good as it should.
  • I have a voyager wireless and while it is very useful the grainy picture quality and lag & jumpiness leaves it a lot to be desired, I couldn't say I would recommend it. It also kept loosing signal until I found the right position angle for the antenna
  • Very happy with mine as well, picture is good enough to tell if something or someone is behind the trailer while backing or going down the road.
