50-70% mark up is not anywhere near true.
Every dealer sets there MSRP, and some are higher than others, but most run 40-45% over raw cost.
Of course, they are going to make money, or they wouldn't be in the business of selling RV's.
Would you go to work every day if you didn't make a salary??
Or only make money every 3rd day? (for those that insist that they can make money off someone else)
I think your right. I do get to see dealer paperwork on a daily basis(nature of my job) and its usually 48-50% markup. Just seen one yesterday that was 48%. There is usually a MSRP sheet from the factory but I think some dealers inflate that even more so I think that is where he gets 50-70%
I believe that you can use this to your advantage.. just tell them what you said above... tell them no BS... just make the deal.. money talks.. IF they believe that you will buy it at the price you give them at that point... you have their attention..
I've tried this approach before. Didn't work. Seemed like it made them stick to their guns even more.
