Was planning on upgrading tires, Guess I waited a little too long:S

I am planning on going with Sailun S637.

My wheels are only rated to 94psi.

Does anyone know the weight rating of Sailun S637 tires at 94psi?

I have three 7000lb axles.

In my opinion, yes back in 97 I had a Tahoe fiver that had to have all 5 tires replaced due to manufacture defects, bubbling. They were also made in USA now they are a product of China.

The link I posted earlier was a D rated tire. And it had nothing to do with what weight it was carrying. It was a manufacturing defect, as the belts were not adhered to the rubber properly...

Of course, in the fifth wheel forum, most are indeed likely E rated. The link posted was a travel trailer.

My suggestion would be to email your pics to him and he will tell you the probable cause (assuming pics are good enough).

My guess is a straight up tread separation. Which, by the way, isn't called a "blowout" in the tire world.

FYI, a TPMS WILL NOT usually give a prewarning on such a failure. Why? A tread separation doesn't generate enough heat to show on the TPMS. And pressure generally stays pretty close until the actual failure, of course.

I sure does look like seam that came apart.

The seam happened after the fact. Tread separation occurred causing the failure. The seam occurred when the brakes were hit, dragging the deflated tire on the road and ripping it.

For the trailer manufacturers the answer is yes. Tredit sells them wheels and tires buy the train car load at very low prices. Many trailers come OEM with them. $105.97 right now on Simple Tire for the ST235/80R16E.

http://simpletire.com/goodyear-st235-80r16-762394406-tires?stmodel=marathon&stcategory=other&sttype=trailer&gclid=CKvwqIG798wCFZOCfgodSnYFTA

Trailer manufacturers are most like paying about one half of that.

That all looks very familiar, except the J panel and plastic fender are still on the trailer. Last winter we were eastbound about 40 miles out of Fredericksburg Texas and blew out the left front Goodyear Marathon. Sounded like a grenade. I looked back and all I could see was parts flying. The tire acted like a giant weed whacker and shredded the material under the kitchen slide, ripped off the J panel and fender. I had the Goodyear shop in Fredericksburg put on a Maxxis and then found a bubble on the inside of the right front tire. Called the shop and had them mount up 3 more Maxxis tires. At least Goodyear corporate stood the damage $1600.00. Less than $400 in parts and a couple of hours and the trailer is good as new. An older gentleman I was parked next to in Fredericksburg said not to feel bad, he had blown out four tires and was getting really good at replacing panels, fenders and other stuff. No more Goodyears for me, I might look into the Sailun tires.

I thought my wheels were rated for 110psi also. But on the backside of the wheel is stamped max load 3580 lbs. I checked with the manufacturer of the wheels and they told me they were rated for 94psi. I am considering running the new tires at 90psi and keeping the wheels I have now.

You do know that these have been known to blow out on the spare carrier without ever having touched the ground in the 2-3 years since the factory, don't you?

Lyle

You do realize that all the reports of bad blowmaxs have been the "E" rated ones run near max. I haven't seen anything on the "D" rated ones. Maybe they're a better tire? Just saying...
