- N-TroubleExplorerTrailer in my sig is one of the lightest 5er THs on the market at 9Klb dry. I wouldn't even think of trying to tow it with a 1/2 ton. Might be able to do it entirely empty but then again that kind of defeats the purpose of having a TH.
Either get a bigger truck, or stick to a smaller bumper pull TH. - atwowheelguyExplorerI have an F-150 with a 1607 lb. payload. With a 6700 lb. "as loaded" bumper pull 24.5 ft. box toy hauler with two dirt bikes in it (780 lbs. tongue weight) , two people in the truck with gear bags, tool box and some fuel cans, the truck rear axle was loaded to within 50 lbs. of the RGAWR and the truck was loaded to within 180 lbs. of GVWR. A fifth wheel would seriously overload it. The weights add up faster than you expect.
- N-TroubleExplorerThrowing a couple of dirt bikes on the back of a TT does not constitute a TH. OP was asking about a TH...
- StraboExplorerMy neighbor tows a small fifthwheel TT with a double dirt bike rake on the back of the trailer, seems to work fine....Using an old Tundra
No one dead, mamed, eyes gouged out, in prison, shot at by weight police, not allowed at Glamis or anything else for that matter, he just goes camping and riding...

You could tow a goose neck / 5th wheel coupler trailer with a 1500 truck using a converter dolly example dolly
Unsafe you still need to STOP all that weight. - B_O__PlentyExplorer IISure and I bet it has a 8" lift and some 35" tires too. Forget about it. You need to start out with a 1 ton dually. Nothing else will be safe..

Now my travel distances would be under 700 miles round trip. Camper would be at a campground 85% of the time.
You have received a lot of posts to your question. 100% of those posts are telling you that you should not attempt to tow an FW toyhauler with a 1/2 ton truck. Could you do it? Probably, for a while before something breaks. Tires, axles, brakes, and suspension would be overloaded not to mention the stress on the drive train.
There are also potential legal ramifications should you have an accident. Whether or not the accident was your fault, an attorney would jump all over your liability caused by towing overloaded.
In short, I would never attempt it; it is not worth the risk. Buy a truck compatible with the toyhauler you want or buy an enclosed cargo trailer that you can tow with your 1500 until you can get the truck you need. - 1jeepExplorer IIfusion and raptor are heavier trailers in keystones toyhauler line, I have a crbon327 which is one of their lightest and I know my 250 is over its cargo capacity.
- LowRyterExplorerI have a half ton towable 5th wheel toy hauler.
I've always pulled it with 3/4 ton. - WalabyExplorer III've got a 2011 GMC Sierra and I haven't seen a 5er, much less a 5er toy hauler that I would feel comfortable pulling with it.
