So I have a 35 ft 5th Wheel, that was put into a spot (barley) with a fence right on front of it. We had to improvise to get it unhooked but managed. Problem is now, the space between the fence and the hitch is not enough for any RV movers to even attempt to move this since they can't get their truck in there easily and we don't have any other option. Is there any way to pull this thing backwards 10 feet or so to make space for a truck to hook up? I was thinking come-a-longs to the back axle but I'm not sure of balance issues. If I bring the Jack's all the way up will the 5th wheel just fall forward if not hooked up to anything?

Since a truck was there once why can't the same/similar truck get there again? Have you tried house movers?I might be tempted to place 2x6 boards under the lowered jacks, grease the boards and pull back evenly. If the ground is not level and solid then that has to be corrected.How about a fork lift that dealers use?

Take the fence down temporarily? May be the cheapest and safest way to go. No big deal to pull up a couple of fence posts and then put the back in when you are done. The greased boards idea sounds possible but I would use 2X12 boards to keep the RV from sliding off sideways. 2X6 seem risky to me. Depends on whether you have a good way to hook on the frame from the rear.

Can't take fence down it's not ours. Was a local guy who did it first time cheap. Got his truck stuck in the sand in process. Pro movers will not do it even for a fee, the space is to small for them to bother trying to hook up at an angle. Straight backup to hook up isn't possible. Forklift would cost too much to for such a fast job. Slicked boards sounds like a possible option

Providing the ground is suitable, if you can support the king pin, rent a couple of machine skates (maybe $30 for 4 hours) and put them under the front jacks on top of plywood. You support the king pin, raise the jacks, place the skates, lower the jack stands on the skates, raise the jack stands and remove the king pin support. You will have to decide if trying something that cost money without much danger is worth it over trying something that if it fails, will cost you a whole lot more money.

If you pulled the trailer backwards and then connected the truck what will you do next? If you are pulling out in the forward direction you will just end up where you started so why not start there to begin with? Or, once the truck is connected, are you going to back out somewhere?
