Since I posted my question I too came across the manual for the floor slide system. I completely understand what the stop can was, but didn't know "how" it affected the slide out system. Your explanation makes sense and helps shed some light on what I need to do to try and correct the issue - THANK YOU.

Look under the slide while extended out. If your slide is like mine you will see a cylindrical 'bell' and jam nut threaded onto a shaft about 2 feet from the outside of the slide. The shaft runs through the 'bell'. This is the stop adjustment. The end of the 'bell' will come into contact with the side plate when closed.
On mine the 'bell' was too far out causing the slide to slide in farther than it should. I loosened the jam nut and rotated the bell in towards the camper to stop it sooner. Adjust it too much and the outside seal will not seal properly. I made 2 turn adjustments in until it worked properly.
I also put a witness mark on the 'bell' with a sharpie marker so I could keep track of how many turns I made.
I'll try to find time to post a photo of the adjustment 'bell'.
I hope this helps
On Edit: Look at page 11 of ***Link Removed***
The 'Bell' is called a Stop Can. Adjust the Stop Can towards the frame to stop the slide sooner. Check your outside seal to assure it's still making contact after adjusting.
