How accurate are the Manf.'s exterior height measurments?

I am starting to research bumper pull toy hauler options. One issue is that I have a 12' high garage and many of the units I am interested in are pretty close to that. Just curious if the manf's are spot on in the measurements or if there is some buffer there? One thing is for sure I will have to measure what ever I buy myself before signing.
  • mine is just about 12' from floor to top of the AC. i did not have my trailer near me at the time and i called the manufacturer and they went to the floor and measured for me. we have a 2014 pacific coachworks sand sport 26FBSL. i keep the trailer at my house, i can measure when i get home if you are interested in the real number.
  • I think some of the different results can be caused by how it is sitting and how the ground under it rises or falls. I got new 16" tires/wheels and measured from every possible angle I could to make sure I hadn't gone over 13' 6".
  • Howdy!

They listed ours at 13'3" and I had them measure it when we took delivery. They stated it was 13'9". I was very up set with that measurement as it is above the national truck average. When I measured it myself I found it to be 13'6". So don't trust anyone but your own measurements.

  • I would not trust anything without measuring it yourself. Measurements vary widely in the industry, not all manufacturers measure length or even weights the same. So take your tape measure to make sure fits. Loaded vs. unloaded can impact height too, so measure unloaded with tire pressure at the correct level. Give yourself a fudge factor in case having the trailer at an angle impacts height too.
  • That are close......sometimes.

IF anything they are lower than actual.

My FW is listed at 12' 8" but mine measured 13' 1" at top of A/C Unit and after I set it up to tow level it measures 13' 4"

Point is......as with ANY number published by mfg.

VERIFY (forget about the trust part)
