we're really narrowing down our likes and must haves in our new fifth wheel and here are a couple of floor plans i really like.first up for discussion is the 2013 Cruiser Patriot Provincial CF315QB Fifth Wheel---http://www.rvingplanet.com/models/crossroads-rv/cruiser-patriot-provincial/cf315qb/love the rear bdrm on the main living level with extra windows.the forward space will provide a ton of storage and a space to add the washer.but it only has one door, though i assume the bdrm has an emergency exit.here's the next one with an outdoor kitchen which dh would love.http://www.rvingplanet.com/models/crossroads-rv/longhorn/lhf31bh-texas-edition/the second door into bathroom is very nice too, and again the bunk area provides room for washer and plenty of storage--we have cats so need litter boxes too.and i could move the bdrm dresser into the bunk room for a more spacious feel in the bdrm if necessary.we will be living full time in it nine months of the year, so we want all of the the extra storage we can find.thanks for your opinions, your collective knowledge really helps!

lol, well i like them both for different reasons!i suppose if the rear bdrm model could be modified to add the laundry and outdoor kitchen i think it would be my favorite---for today that is!

my question with the first layout, can you get into the bathroom with the slide closed? is that a concern for you? we use the bathroom when on the road, currently our slide blocks the bathroom door, so when we pull off the road we need to make sure there is room to put the slide out to get into the bathroom.we personally have the models with the bunk house in the front on our wish list. however the one thing that may turn us away is ceiling height versus height of child. our son is tall for his age, so when we upgrade ceiling height in the bunk area where he will be sleeping/hanging out/getting dressed will be a consideration. One other thing we have been aware of, where is the TV in relation to the couch? currently our TV is 90 degree angle to the couch, very uncomfortable viewing when we do sit down to watch TV. The first layout is interesting with the TV in the corner, that would probably be more comfortable viewing, the second layout the TV is very similar to the way out TV to couch is currently.Hope these thought help you decide which is best for your family.

thanks mamabear, those are good things to keep in mind.yes to the bathroom access while slides are in, thanks for the reminder!it's just me and dh and the cats and dog, so the forward area as a laundry pet area is attractive to me.now to find a way to squeeze in an outdoor kitchen for dh...

the problem is that there are not a ton of options in the area, it seems vermont dealers all carry the same four brands, and we haven't seen the ones i'm looking at anywhere here yet.
we've been to all of the local dealerships several times to explore the different models and ask questions and buy the magazines which we religiously study.
i'd love to find a dealer within a day or two's drive where we could climb around a lot more brands and models.

We have the same floorplan as the 315 and we LOVE it. Now, we have 2 DD's, 9 and 6, so the front bunkroom works great for us. The master in the back allows us to have some spectacular views from the bedroom. We are currently camp hosting at a state park and are backed into the site and the only thing outside our bedroom window are trees and deer. It has been wonderful to wake up and see nothing but green and it is quiet. We have had a few birds fly into the window, though.

The kids enjoy the floorspace in their bedroom, and have room to play games, watch a video on a rainy day or just flop on the floor to read a book.

On the negative, it is a hike for me to get to the potty room in the middle of the night.

Go spend some time (several hours) in the RV you seem to like and see if it will work for everyone.

Before making your decision I would go to the Crossroads forum and do some research. There have been some Q/C issues over the last year or so and they cut their warranty in half. I am not saying they are all bad just lots more reports of quality issues over the last year.

The hike to the bathroom in both of those units wouldn't work for me. I have a hard time going back to sleep after a night time "pitstop" and after that haul I would be wide awake.

dh is the cook and an outside kitchen is on his list of must haves this time around.
hopefully we can make up the storage difference in the bunk space.

I'm not pushing Open Range there are lots of Front living room floor plans

i found this one which has two doors and a half bath which could be a laundry room, and the forward storage/den space.

I would choose the model that does not have an outdoor kitchen. If you are going to 3/4 time storage space will be at a premium. Why have 2 kitchen when one will do?The space used for an outdoor kitchen could be put to better use. For me outdoor kitchens are more of a weekend warrior item. Neither floorplan has much counter space. Of the 2 I'd choose the rear master bedroom.

hmm, such excellent thoughts!
so the more i look and listen the more i like the cruiser with the extra slides.
and with the forward laundry/storage room i could make the bdrm more spacious by replacing the wardrobe wall with a flat fireplace.

neither has a lot of kitchen storage but the extra space will help that.
i like how open the floor plans are and we'd probably lose the banquette seating.

our current truck is a one ton dually turbo diesel, but it's a 2001 and even though it has less than 45 thousand original miles, it's rated to haul only 13 thousand lbs.
we are willing to upgrade the truck for the right rig.
