Are your transmitter and receiver antenna's the same? I've found that the position of the antenna's need to be the same, that is, if the transmitting antenna is horizontal, the receiver antenna needs to be in the same plane. Same with vertical alignment. Make sure the transmitter antenna is tight and has a bit of di-electric grease on the threads.
