Jayco(Australia) building its truly 1/2 ton towable model

Happy New Year everybody. Australian utes are sold as 1 tonners not half tons, and they may have had ther tov rating op grated to 3500kg but the GCVR is still only 6000kg so you can not carry hardly anything after asesseries ,passengers and hitch weight added to vehicle, as for the Iveco daylies I contacted dealer in Australia and they only have a tov rating of 3500 kg also.

Robert if I cherry pick information it is because I think this part is wrong, as I stated many broad statements with surden parts not right, for instant u can't say all suspensions not op to task because som fails same for chaises, som has correct wiring som don't. Please supply the manufactures specifications for max vehicle weights actual weights and payload and remember with cap shassi this is before fitting of tray or any accessories, tow hitch,bull bar,side bars, winch, extre battery's, canopi, and passengers, etc.

Sorry Robert but many off the quotes are not true much scaremongering in Australia about imports, yes som importers don the wrong ting, but so has many Australian builders ,and u can hardly blame the Americans for Australian shoddy importers.
Exactly why I try to post factch so people can do there own diligence re weights springs and axles, most parts are readily available in Australia

That is why the TV has to be matched to the FW. For a 25ft-27ft rig not a problem. Similar problem with a 38-39ft on a F350, better a Class 8?

They are equally litigious outside the US. Why the 1/2 Tons have a lower capacity? Simple you upgrade to a 3/4 ton that makes the manufacturer much more profit.That is why towing with a car is not going to be endorsed by ANY OEM in the US, although the Europeans do it 95% of the time, the rest by European Vans or Cab Chassis vehicles.

A great-uncle of mine used big-block Chryslers to tow his 30' Airstream back and forth across the U.S. until he couldn't find another car with a big-block in it. Bought a 3/4 ton Suburban (late-70's/early 80's) with a 454 and absolutely hated it. I tried to get him to put a small blower on it for more horsepower, but he said that he didn't want to spend any more money on it. Sold 'em both after about 3 years and bought a small Class A. He was much happier, but still would have preferred his Chrysler.

You still need some beef to counteract the side-forces produced by =any= trailer. Hell, drop the wheels off the pavement onto a soft shoulder, even at 25 mph, and your "perfect" TV would be tossed sideways 1-2', I'd bet. Don't ever forget that you've got a =long= lever arm from the center of pivot of the FW to the king pin to move you around.
