Jayco Quality

Now that the kids are older, we are considering getting rid of the toyhauler and getting a more residential type 5er. We looked at some Jayco Northpoint fifth wheels and liked the floorplans. Any opinions on the Jayco quality?

I have a 2009 Jayco Designer 34RLQS. It has been a great trailer. We have put about 20,000 miles and 800 nights on her. Store her inside when not in use, and keep up maintenance on her.
If it moves but shouldn't, use Duct Tape. If it doesn't move but should, use WD40.

Well, you found someone now. ๐Ÿ™‚

Our Sunnybrook has never been to the dealer or factory for anything. In fact, it has never needed any repair other than minor things I can fix myself or a one time slide fix by a mobile repair service because a set screw loosened up.

Ours gets used heavily and has been almost trouble free from the beginning in 2004. Too bad they sold out to Winnebago and are no longer made.

We have a 2014 Jayco Eagle Premier 361REQS. The Horthpoint is now the Eagle Premier. We have 4 slides 2 of which are Schwintec. No problems with any of the slides. We spend close to 5 months a year in the RV so it gets plenty of use. We had a good list of things that needed fixing or adjusting over the two year warranty period which just ended. Nothing serious except the front cap faded. Jayco repainted it. The warranty coverage and service is excellent. We have had a few trailers and our last was a Montana. I have yet to find anyone that has not had a few warranty issues with a new trailer. Check out the owners forums for other brands and you will find they all have a few problems at times. I think Jayco RV's match up to any in similar price ranges. Jayco's new Designer series will match up to any out there. I would buy another Jayco.

I have a 2010 Jayco 31.5RLDS that I bought new. We've had very, very few issues and towed it 17,361 miles to date. We had a couple very minor issues with add-ons such as the propane pigtails. They quit functioning properly after about a year and had to buy new ones. Other than that I can't remember anything significant.

Had a Jayco Designer 03, for 10yrs. spent over 1,000 nights in it. no major problems. Traded for 2014 Eagle Premier. it has Schwintec slide in bedroom only no problems. And it is more than our Camper, it's home as we live in it full time. Only major problem was paint fade on front cap, Jayco fixed it!
Most likely will buy another Jayco. I don't think the North Point uses the Schwintec slide. But easy to tell. Been in this one 2 and a half years no slide problems at all!
My cents.

My last two units a 2010 RLMS and a 2013 351MKTS both have had major problems with the Schwintek slide system. After I spent over $2200 on the 2013 we traded in in. Never again will own that system. Also, had 3 back walls replaced on the 2013 due to leak issues.

We just bought a Jayco and after shopping in the 50K Canadian price range there was noting even close to the quality they had. The wood work, drawers cupboards ect did not even compare. We chose the Jayco hands down.

First 5er was a Jayco Eagle bunkhouse and my opinion quality left much to be desired BUT I find that to be industry wide.... Second 5er is a Crossroads Cruiser and I have been pleased with the quality and the Cruiser line of Crossroads is far from there top of the line. I firmly believe you should find the unit you like and then try and build a relationship with your dealer and that might be tuff.. Good luck and be safe......

For more direct access to opinions on Jayco, join the Jayco Owners Forum. It's a good bunch there and you'll get very honest opinions.

I will say this, our X20E is our 3rd Jayco that we bought new. Overall solid build, initial fit and finish is decent but they do suffer from some quality control issues. Little things like doors that need latch adjustments, loose moldings, loose screws on some components, etc. From what I've read this seems to be across all product lines.

We had our last Jayco for 10 years and no real problems with it.

My Voltage uses the Schwintek slide system and it has had it's share of problems includes a major rebuild. It is such a bad system that Voltage no longer uses it. Jayco uses Schwintek slides in all of the RV's it makes.

A Jayco Eagle HT is on my short-list for my next FW. That 2 year warranty does say something, IMO. Only a handful of mfrs still do this...
