Just completed a few mods.

Just finished some mods to the 5er. Actually a few were done at the end of last year.

First I added a exterior plug to tap into the 20 amp circuit on the campground pedestal.

Here is the plug on the inside.

Then I replaced the rocker switches with lighted rocker switches. Makes telling at a glance if they are switched on or not.

Then I put in a second 12 volt florescent under cabinet light.

Then I replaced the incandescent bulbs in the overhead lights with LED bulbs purchased off Ebay. Man are they bright!! Love it.

Finally I added a pair of computer fans to the refrigerator cooling fins to circulate the air inside. Purchased off Ebay also.

I think we are about ready to start a new camping season now. Just need to do the annual spring cleaning!!!! Just wanted to share, also I still can't believe how easy it was to add the LED bulbs. Happy camping, John

Park where we spend the winter is pretty old, spots are narrow so we have to rent two. The thirty amp is metered and the 20 isn't as it seperate. We run our space heater and use our toaster on the 20 amp plugs. Better heat and browner toast on the 20 by it self. Paying for the two spots so they don't care that's it's not metered.

Question along the same line. Could I connect my water heater into the 20amp outlet. I was thinking of making a two way switch so that I could run the WH off of the main 30/50 amp service or off of the 20 amp service. Possible?

I don't think that the 20 amp plug will do what you want. The 20 amp circuit is still under your 30 amp breaker. It's not likely they will wire it to the opposite leg.

How much work was there to install the LED's?

Took about 20 minutes to install the 10 lights. Remove the lens and old bulb, install the bulb adapters, plug in the LED, remove the backing from the LED and stick to the light housing, and then replace the lens.

Thanks. Got me convinced I'm going to order.

The plug on the outside of the camper I bought off of Ebay also here.
Also if you search on Ebay they now have some white plugs like the one I bought. I probably would have bought a white one but they didn't have on available at the time.

Thanks, John

Great mods!..:C

FYI - Didn't check the others (yet) - but the "Marinco 150 BBIW (white) Marine On Board Charger Inlet 15 amp" - is available from Amazon for $16.83 (w/ free shipping for prime members).

Entering "Marinco 150 BBIW" will take you to it on Amazon.

how did you wire the refrigerator fan?

It comes just as pictured and with installation instructions. I just tapped into the light switch. When I turn on the refrigerator the fan comes on also.

The lighted rocker switches I bought at O'Reilley's Auto Parts.
