ummm, if the puter was working properly it is difficult to overrev the 7.3.
I have seen guys plant the large number 12 wide hoof on the go pedal and the motor just sat there and ran at the red line. :h
Here in AZ, the damned emissions requires that the engine be redlined 4 times; once to test the governor and 3 times in the test phase. Every time I go in I ask who pays for my new engine if I throw a rod to pass this state-required test. So far, no answer...

If it throws a rod at red line your trouble is with the manufacturer, not the guy pressing the throttle.
And if you're out of warranty the answer is easy. You are.
You may as well quit asking. ๐
Ah, but the thing is, there's only 2 counties in the state that require emissions testing, so that's unnecessary wear and tear on a vehicle that, if I lived 9 miles away, wouldn't have to go through. ๐ Yes, I'm baiting them, but I'd still like to know the answer to my question.

Well we were able to go look at the truck today. The tow service operator said he didn't think we should try to drive it home, about a 50 miles trip. He said he thought the transfer case was blown. There was a huge puddle of tranny fluid from where they pulled out. So I left it there and will be having it hauled to Midway Ford on Monday. I will let them determine the extent of any damage to the transfer case and transmission.
Truck was filthy and everything that was loose on the inside is gone. Owners manual, gps and all my hand tools I had behind the rear seat. All replaceable and the truck is fixable. I am just so grateful it was recovered and not stripped.
Here are a few pics I took today.
Also our hitch was still in the bed. I was worried they would have taken it too.
I will post back probably in a new thread once all the repairs are completed and I know what all was done. Thanks for all the encouragement and kind words.
