Kayak rack!?

We're glamping a new area and love it..They kayak alot here and we have rented and also enjoy it..
We own 2010 cougar, with the slide out carrier in the rear...Has anyone modified this to hold a boat vertical on it?.
Ps sorry I'm typing this from a tiny phone and my eyes aren't the greatest ??
  • I have seen many RVs with a kayak mounted vertically on the rear sometimes to the ladder. I carry mine on truck camper shell roof rack.
  • We solved the storage and transport issue with inflatable kayaks.
  • Not that uncommon in California, can. Not that we have the water for kayaking.

I have read few horror stories about seams splitting, thats concern to me
  • Very few of those stories I would guess. Modern inflatables are pretty rugged and reviews indicate they hold up well in a variety of conditions. They are not without concessions though, most of which is maneuverability and tracking. Far more stable than rigid kayaks though and obviously, very portable. We've had ours over a year now, lakes, creeks, saltwater etc, and not one issue. You will need to get a decent brand - still cheaper than rigid ones.

    folding kayaks

Folding kayaks are awesome but start abut $900 for a decent one.
  • Ya I seen some module ones too,I have a headache rack that sits above my cab..
I'm going to make a bar I can bolt like a tee off of my after market bumper and exstend kayaks over the hood,I think I can make that work ??
