Anyone have the name of a C-level executive at Keystone? We were just denied a warranty claim on the front cap finish of our 2012 Cougar, and may try to escalate to someone. Not sure if Campingworld is just not pressing hard enough for us or if the problem is solely with the manufacturer, however we sure are unhappy with the look of the front cap and I know that Keystone has honored the claims for others. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Our 2008 Cedar Creek developed heavy oxidation on the front cap (gel coat) after two years. I spent days in my driveway after work using an orbital buffer and wax that removes oxidation. It was back breaking and the finish looked, well, bad. It would look ok for a couple of weeks and then it would start looking bad again.
I took the 5th wheel to a fiberglass repair shop that specialized in high gloss boat gel coat finishes. These guys repair high gloss gel coat boats and do insurance work for major boat brands. I paid the owner $100 cash and he had two guys with high speed buffers and special gel coat wax/finishing polish to buff out the finish on the front cap and rear fiberglass cap. It took about an hour. They had to work on ladders. It looked brand new (except for the big logo/sticker on the front cap which was faded). I repeated this process again in 2011 when I went to sell the camper so it would have a high gloss finish. .
That may be an option for you and a fiberglass gel coat repair shop like this can do more for you than the factory or the supplier that that front cap was supplied from.
Good luck!
