King Pin Rust

I know it's not a huge deal but my king Pin is rusty. Would it be a good idea to use some rust remover like Boeshield T9 or something similar and then spray it with Lithium grease or just not worry about it at all?

I used a spray rust converter that I got from Harbor Freight. It is cheap but works great.

The pin should be lubed. The lube can be protected by slipping a 12 oz tin can over it. This only works if the can was opened with an opener that cuts on the edge of the rim, not inside the rim.

Thanks everyone. I'll give it a light scrubbing with a rust remover and then get it lubed up for the upcoming long winter season.

Assuming it's the typical light layer of surface rust...I wouldn't worry about it other than a light layer of grease.

Once a year I wire brush it down....shoot some black rustoleum on it.
Then occasionally smear some wheel bearing grease on it (light film)

Use a rust converter or sand it off there, then grease it so you don't have issues down the road.

When I had one i just slathered it with turtle wax. Worked as a lub and water repellent. It's what I had on hand at the time.
