Lets compare

We have had enough of our Keystone Cougar and have been looking at full profile units. I am looking for opinions or stories about the following units, not weight problems for our TV please.

Montana Mountaineer 356TBF

Jayco Eagle Premier

Hearltand Silverado SV 38QBS

Thanks !
  • we moved from a Jayco Designer to the Cameo for layout reasons. The Cameo is a bit better built in some areas but never had a complaint with the Jayco. Jayco has a nice 2 Yr warranty. I will probably go with a Lifestyle after this because it is the same as the old Carriage Line; but if not then it would be a Jayco because of the price to value you get with their units.

Why the space between #1 and #2? The Jayco is far ahead of the others.

I would agree with the spacing. I would also have a gap between 2 and 3. The Montana just has a little more lipstick than the Cougar!

My thought was that if the OP has issues with his Cougar, why would he even consider another Keystone product? :h

  • I also got to the point of no more, but was dealing with Fleetwood on a Lippert Frame. Bought a Cameo before Carriage went under. No comparison between the 2 units. Yes it cost more. There are used Carriages out there that would be excellent. My next unit will be Lifestyle, just because of the way it is built. I've discovered you can really get stung on RVs. Don't know a lot about those you listed, buy would probably lean to Jayco.

The Cougar has had a lot of issues with plumbing right from the start. Out of warranty now for over 2 years I am sick of fixing it. I have gone as far as removing the shower and resetting it with new caulk. Camping World service in our area is horrible and weeks out for appointments so we gave up on them. I am just sick of taking it apart and putting it back together. We had a laundry list of problems when the Cougar was new. It took CW 14 months to get it straight and they never could stop the plumbing issues.

What type of plumbing issues, based on the removal reinstall of the shower sounds like leaks. Were there multiple leaks.
  • Love my Jayco in my sig. Have had no problems with it, just normal maintenance. I continue to be pleased with how well its holding up.

Curious; What is it with the Cougar you are fed up with?
  • Are you thinking new or used, but well taken care of?

If you are considering used we are very happy with our Carriage. They are out of business now, but there are still some around that are in great shape. And VERY well made.
