Leveling 5th Wheel

I am new to RVing and have a 2011 37' Cameo by Carraige. I just finished reading a thread about how you could possibly bend the frame leveling the camper side to side with the stabilizer jacks. So it got me to wondering if I am doing something wrong.

My camper has the 4point auto leveling system. Do I need to first level the camper side with blocks under the tires or is it ok to let the hydraulic jacks do all of the leveling automatically?
  • We had a Cameo with the generation one Big Foot and found that if we were too unlevel side to side, the auto level did not work well. So I would use some boards to bring the unit closer to level side to side and wood blocks under one front jack to start with.

  • You have leveling jacks, like most of the class A crowd, not stabilizing jacks. Leveling jacks on a 5th wheel are usually an upgrade.

Just stay out of the way, it'll level itself.

Lol thanks, we have spent 18 nights in the camper so far and that is exactly what I have been doing.
  • You can't level with stabilizers but you can level with leveling jacks.
