Hey Boys and Girls Looking for a campground that we can ride the quads and bikes from and get to or start at the trails. Been to Estes Park area, Silverton,Ouray, Telluride and Durango. Looking in the Buena Vista area or close. All the local CG's have to trailer to the trail head. Still want to ride and do the touristy stuff. Raft hike fish and of course eat.Thanks in advance !

Not sure about the riding, but Steamboat Springs is a beautiful area.

Most of the best riding trails are on the other side of Cottonwood Pass from Buena Vista, around a place called Taylor Park. There you can ride right from camp, but would need to drive back to BV or Gunnison for some of the tourist & restaurant stuff. The sites & trails around Taylor Park do get a bit crowded in mid summer & holidays.Another area is the Rio Grande National Forest in south central Colorado, near Creede & South Fork, Co. My summer home is in South Fork and I ride right from my garage up to 13,000 ft. I ride almost every day and it took me 3 yrs to cover all the trails in this area.

The trails close to home look like a GNCC race. We rode 80 miles in Estes and saw one hiker. In Silverton it seemed fairly busy with jeeps SxS and quads, Bikes hardly any.I will check Taylor park out Thanks

Vega State Park. The trails for the Grand Mesa start at the campground.

Taylor park is your best option. All the riding you could ask for, campgrounds, boondocking. There is a couple small places to eat but nothing to write home about. Buena vista is about a 30min ride over the pass. Crested butte is also about 30-40min away. Both of which youd have to drive to. Lots of fishing, hiking and hkrseback riding right around taylor park. You can also make it to aspen in a couple hours on atv's. We rode right to the bottom of aspen mountain and went into town to meet some family for lunch.pickup the trail book from funtreks aswell as the gps maps and youll have an awesome time.

Taylor Reservoir is nice place. I didn't notice that the RV campground had much shade. There are lots of campsites in the National Forest on either side of TPR whether coming from the west or east.

I stayed in one of the full hook up campgrounds in Buena Vista. Before that in Taos and afterwards in South Denver. I think I would boon dock in one of the Forest sites for a few days. I've also camped in Salida.

Noooooooooo, there is no good riding anywhere in the state. Tell all your friends and look somewhere else... :)
If you do go to Taylor Park, be sure to stop by the trading post and visit the café for his awesome, all you can eat omelet bar. Great way to prepare for a day of riding.

Check out Ruby Mountain campground. No hook ups but right on the river. Near Fishermans bridge on the Arkansas. About 10 minutes from BV.

We'll be in Taylor Park july 12-18. if I could get away I would stay there a month every year. we're in the campground by the trading post. we really like it there.

We're headed to Taylor Park this summer (July 4-12). Maybe we'll see you there. Never been, but some in our group have and say it's great.

If you ride hare scrambles, head to Louisiana, MO this weekend for the MORE race (racemore.net).

We attend the rzr forum ride at Taylor Park every year been the last 4 years. First time we were there 4 days last year 2 weeks. Every trip we find new trails that we haven't ridden. The ride from TP to Aspen is a great all day ride. I would like to branch off this year and spend some time in another area as well. Hopefully spending a month there this year.

Pagosa Springs- East Fork campground. Ride right to the trail over Elwood pass to Platoro and into New Mexico.

We stayed in Taylor Park last summer at the Colorado Dream Ranch and its a great place. The staff are good people and friendly. Their is tons of riding in just about all directions. We're going back out there again this summer to stay. I would highly recommend it. Good Luck!
