Low Heat Output

Sounds pretty normal for the usually inefficient RV furnace! More heat lost to the outside than is ever delivered to the inside.

A duct that fell off? Get a IR heat gun, check temps at exhaust, floor vents, in basement. Compare to yours.

Does your friend have a gas oven or range? If so how are those working? We just had an oven that took half of forever to get to temp and took way longer to cook than it should. We changed the oven control without any change in oven performance and I then checked the overall LP system pressure. Instead of the 11" WC it was right around 7". Hot water heater and LP furnaces seemed to work OK but we weren't in conditions where lower performance would be immediately noticeable. We replaced the RV LP regulator and everything is now working great.

I suspect a pressure issue, but I have way of checking. I’ll have her try the stove. That’s a good idea.

11" WC is what LP Reg should hold/maintain
11" WC is 0.4 psi

10" WC is what Stove/oven separate reg holds/maintains
10" WC is 0.36 psi

Can you tell the difference of 0.04 psi???
Nope.

A simple manometer is all that is needed to measure LP System Pressure
A Board, A Ruler, Some tubing, Pipe Nipple, Water in tubing

Last April, while Camping at Texas Motor Speedway. We had the issue of warm air but not very hot and took forever to warm. Stove seemed good, fridge on gas was good. There was a guy in the camp that was an RV Tech. He looked at it and said to go to Camping World and get a LP regulator. We did and it took care of the issue. Just a thought. Everyone talking about pressure and all kinda rung a bell.

These are great tools to keep in the camper.

An IR (Infrared) heat sensor will not read air temperature. It only reads the heat radiated from the vent material. If the furnace runs long enough, it will read close to the air temperature. For true air temperature, use a thermometer.

This camper had two identical Atwood furnaces, one of which she never used. Took the burner/valve assembly from the unused furnace and installed into the ailing furnace, and it worked fine. Evidently it was a faulty gas valve.

Good price on that unit. I have an analog gauge that I'm sure I paid a lot more for quite some time ago. It has been very helpful in diagnosing a variety of LP problems and eliminating LP issues as well.
