Lube Plate

I use the 12 inch. Install it, trim if necessary. I also countersink a screw ans drill and tap the box to keep the lube plate from turning.

Why? (this is a serious question)

I use a 10". Just a small bit of extension, but works fine.

I use a 12", it's 6 years old. It has now started to fall off so I went to amazon and ordered some o-rings. Slip the plate on the trailer and put an o-ring under it and then don't worry about it falling off.

I believe the entire reason for having a "lube" plate was to reduce friction. It needs to be able to turn to accomplish this.

My lube plate has finders that hold it to king pin....it does not rotate

I hitch up with pin box plate 1"lower then head and let it slide up/into hitch when backing up.
Plate stays in same place

I recently pulled mine off the pinbox to clean and inspect it, since I got a new truck and hitch. It looks like it had never rotated on the pinbox, and even if it did that would be splitting the friction between the upper and lower mating surfaces. That would be a good thing in my mind. Does anyone spray it with silicone or????

Mine has the fingers but they have weakened and will not hold any longer, the plate is fine it just wouldn't stay in place. Once unhooked and after a day or so with wind it would fall off.

You can't hook up a Curt that way.

We ordered the 12" one from amazon. Nice price came with 2 day shipping. We had it for 4 years and it was great then we upgraded to a new hitch that has it built in so no longer needed.

To those of you who say the fingers won't hold the plate on the king pin any more. Mine did this also, I don't remember who told me this but take the plate and lay it on concrete or pavement. Then you just take a hammer and bang the fingers a few times. I guess this flattens them and lengthens them a bit. Works for me. I also use the 12" one.
