We have MORryde steps with lift assist on our Vilano and are very happy with them. You do have to clean them off before storing, but we understand that’s a trade off necessary to have the solid feel.
In a year and ~10k miles we’ve never encountered a time we couldn’t deploy the steps properly. I can envision a circumstance with a significant uphill slope or something but haven’t practically experienced one. I suspect movement on the site, or extending the landing gear (hydraulic) more would solve most issues.
With that said, my wife doesn’t like the additional space required at a rest stop (never been a real issue for us) not having to clean them before putting up, she does like how stable they are...she wants her cake and eat it too :)
