My Other Tow Vehicke

Today I got the 1967 Ford N-950 out and hooked up to the fiver for a short trip. The 743 cubic inch Cummins diesel does a pretty respectable job of towing the fiver.

Did you do the restoration?

Yes, I did the restoration in my shop here at my home. I have to admit that I did have a good friend do most or the paint and body work but I did the rest.

This is the truck when I got it.

This was the day I removed the cab.

Sand blasting the cab

The cab after it was painted. I was putting the wiring and glass back in.

The day we put the cab back on.

What tranny do you have in the truck? Or is a 5/4 or 5/3. Looking at the drive line it would appear to be two? Chris

Nice old truck there but just watch backing in that you don't hit back of the cab. You might need a slider 🙂

I have to admit, that was more than funny and a great laugh.

A motor cycle of a Smart car would no doubt fit, but I have neither of them. I do however have a golf cart that I seriously considered building a platform for. After some thought and the fact that I pull most of the time with my Super Duty I decided to fab a receiver hitch for the rear of the trailer and pull the golf cart behind the fiver on a utility trailer bought for that purpose. The only bad thing about using the big truck to tow with, you also need someone to come along in a car or pick up so you have something to drive besides the big truck when you get to your destination. It works fine for a three or four trip but any longer than that its a pain in the rear to have to jump in that tall truck every time you need to go to Walmart or the grocery store.

Now all you need is an old classic 5er to tow, then maybe an old Indian motorcycle to have right behind the cage. Sweet truck!
