Here is one. Complete tread separation and minor damage to Camper. Two more with busted belt. All at the same time. BFG Commercial T/A's. All at the same tire. IO posted pictures and BFGoodrich would not honor any warranty because they were on a trailer.
That being said, I replaced them with Firestone LT's.
I stand corrected, although 848,000 of those tires got recalled because of the very problem you experienced. They were defective recalled tires. While I'm sure you suffered comp ta blowouts, not sure if that really counts as a valid LT trailer tire blowout since they were proven to be defective tires..? And from what you posted, sure seems your Comp Ta were defective...
Actually those are the same tires I got installed on my TH, till Discount tire changed them out under the recall warranty...
As some of you may remember, after getting some good recommendations here, I originally went with 7, 235/85 16E BFG Comp TA commercial.
Only got about 500miles on them, they seemed to tow great.
Then got the recall notice for the 848,000 BFG Comp TA tire recall.
Discount tire installed 7 brand new Michelin XPS Ribs on my TOYHAULER in place of my BFG Comp TA commercial tires, NO CHARGE, all under the tire recall warranty.
It makes me even a more loyal Michelin customer to see how they treated me when there is a problem.
Not sure what happened for you with the tire recall/warranty..? Michelin the company that owns BFG,and took care of the COMP TA recall, could care less that my tires were on a TH/trailer.
Did you get the recall letter...? or call the 800 recall #...?
1 call to Michelin/BFG about the recall, and my set of Ribs were waiting for me at my choice of any Discount Tire store.
If you have documentation/bills with dot # for the defective Comp Ta tires you replaced, check to see if they were part of the recall. With what happened to your tires, sounds like they were part of the recall. If so then see if they will reimburse you for the replacement Firestone tires you had to buy...
I posted the recall notice some time ago, here on the forum. http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/voluntarysafetyrecall
