Need a 5er hitch that'll work with the TC

We're going to Hershey next month to look at 5ers. We want one for retirement in a few years. But we'll also wanna use our TC on Assateague Island, love AI. Does anyone have a solution for this scenario? I guess we can go TT but I'd prefer a 5th wheel. Or we can buy a second truck... nope, that's not gonna happen!
I guess I can get under the truck and remove a few bolts. And I have a stall mat in the bed I can cut out for a mounting plate.
Any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks.

    Look into a B&W TurnOver Ball (for gooseneck trailers) and use it with an Andersen Ultimate Fifth Wheel Connection. The turnover ball flips flush with the bed of the truck and Andersen makes a lightweight (less than 50 lbs.) aluminum fifth wheel system that anchors to the truck bed using the TurnOver ball. It would be a perfect setup for you.

    B&W Companion with a Turnover hitch should work. Once Companion is removed truck bed is completely flat.

    Install below bed rails and it shouldn't be an issue. When you remove the hitch, the bed is unobstructed.

    B&W Turnoverball gooseneck under-bed hitch frame, with quickly removable B&W Companion above-bed fifth wheel hitch, which plugs into the gooseneck ball hole. The whole fifth wheel unit comes out and leaves nothing sticking up in the bed of the truck. Plus, you can tow a gooseneck too, by inserting the ball into the hole.

    You have my same truck... I have the Pullrite Superglide with the hidden rails.. When I take the hitch out , I just twist the 4 anchor mounts, and I have a completely flat truck bed... I used to keep a rubber truck mat for when I take the hitch out , I would lay it down so water would not spray in the 4 holes..

    My TC had to be elevated to clear the bed rails. I needed to raise it the same height as the hitch rails were tall. I just sandwiched 3/4" plywood with horse stall mats and put these between and fore and aft of the hitch rails. Made it the same height for the full 8'.

    That's a good option or get the factory 5th wheel prep kit from Ford and install that. I recently installed the factory kit in my Ram 2500 and it works fantastic..

    Whichever you choose there are plenty of options for 5th wheel hitch connections that leave the truck bed completely clear.

    My 91 Dually, I had an RBW Fifth Wheel. It slid in and had 4 spring pins to lock it in. When I used my TC, I put a sheet of plywood and had cutouts for the slides.

    You could add the B&W TurnoverBall with the 20K Companion. But I bet it would be less expensive to add the Ford 4 factory pucks then buy the 20K B&W puck Companion hitch.

    Regular rails for my Reese slider.
    Take hitch off and cover rails with 3/4 pt plywood
    that has a 1 1/2" frame around perimeter with 2 intermittents.
    It has worked fine for a couple years so far.
