When my hitchhiker was only a couple years old, we came home from shopping and the large rear picture window had shattered into thousands of small crystals. Saw no evidence of impact, neighbors said there was none.
We also have a HitchHiker II. This exact same thing happened to us. It was not as new as you describe yours to be, but everything else is exactly the same. Since we were at home and the trailer was sitting in our shelter (open on back and side), we took it immediately to have the large window replaced. At the time we honestly believed that it was the result of vandalism we reported it to the police and filed on our insurance which paid for replacement.
In light of your experience I am now inclined to believe it was some kind of spontaneous event. Our HitchHiker is a 32.5 UKTG 2007 model.
