New Fifth Options Help

Hey everyone, we are trading our class A in sig for a DRV 43 Atlanta. About to pull the trigger once a few factory requests are priced and we are looking at the standard option sheet and would like to ask some opinions.

Background: Unit will mostly sit and be moved occasionally. Sometimes sit for 6 months to a year, then move to another spot and sit for 3 months, come back for a year etc. So not a daily driver by any means but it will move at times. We will be full timing in her.

If you could let me know if you feel the option is worth the $$ upgrade that would be awesome. Some of them I have no clue what the heck they are and I'll indicate that.

Options:

Standard: Pinless Hydraulic front landing gear
Option: Commercial six point leveling system
Cost: 3,440

We were expecting on getting this but figured I'd ask if it was worth the upgrade cost. Our Newmar has a nice leveling system and I assume the optioned fifth is similar to that although I'm not sure what the "base" is as a comparison.

MOE/ryde I.S Suspension - Mor/Ryde Pin box - Tandem Axle

Cost: 5,142

What the heck is this?

Also there is another option on there called Trallair c/p suspension/ Tri glide pin box tandem

Cost: 3132

I assume these are exclusive of each other, get one you don't get the other but what are they and are they worth it over whatever comes standard? Why?

Any of you using after market wireless back up cameras that would actually buy the product again?

Appreciate the help folks. Thank you.
  • Looks like alot of stuff which will make it ride very nicely & easy to set up. All great for the frequent traveler but, as one who is only going to move a couple times a year do you really need these expensive upgrades?

If some serious traveling was planned, oh yeah, get it all, even if the thing is huge & there will be many considerations for CG accessibility for a monster that size plus suitable TV.

My Alpenlite also has the Lippert frame but it has upgrades for the near 20,000 miles we do a year with very frequent CG changes.
  • One more time, sorry. DRV has a color/sound backup camera as an option with a large color monitor, works great...I have it.
  • Second comment: I've had a heavy boat with the trailer's suspension the same design as the MorRyde. Rode remarkably well. Have had 2 MS's with the TrailAir Center point suspension and TriGlide pin box. Rides very well from the feel from the TV and we also leave a dog water bowl in the MS and it doesn't spill water out. It is rare that there is any movement of stuff in cabinets or on the counter tops. Not that we leave a lot out. Without direct experience, I would say the MorRyde suspension is better. It is also more expensive and weighs more. I opted to not spend the extra money nor take the weight penalty and not sorry that I did.

DRV will semi-custom build your rig, just ask. They will add, subtract, substitute and install stuff you send them. Just ask.

Rolling RetreatsThese folks are well thought of and very knowledgeable of DRV products.

No, I didn't buy from them but if they were closer I would have.
  • In my opinion... IF the trailer was used for FT and on the road most of the time , I would do ALL options.. but then again , I am good at spending other peoples money !.... Since the unit sounds like it will be parked MOST of the time... I would go with #1 only.... Save the dollars on the IS ( I have this ) and the pin box ( I have a version) .... They are great for rolling down the road,,, not for sitting.... save your money and put it towards something else... Good Luck... Happy Camping...Joe

Might want to post questions there also. Might want to check out effects of long periods of non use of tires, while you are at it. OEM's usually like to see tire used every 3-6 months to work the wax around. If you have level up and have most weight off tires will probably help.
  • We have the same trailer you are buying with the Trail-air----fine Lippert Product....smooth ride. We left the dog's water bowl full whenever we travel (closest 8 hours away) and it never spills. You are going to have a lot of electronics inside and a lot of close fitting cabinetry---a smooth ride is important.

Lippert 6 point Leveling System---very handy, makes quick work of set up but expensive. I'd get it again....
If you like ease of set-up it is the way to level and stabilize very easily but don't expect NO movement inside-you can notice other folks moving around. Also, it will take a SLIGHTLY unlevel spot and make corrections but we have had times where we had to put blocks under the jacks to get it to level without reading "excessive stroke" or whatever the message is when the rams have to extend too far to level. It is a long trailer so even if it the spot looks level, the gradual slope barely noticeable to a a smaller trailer on the same pad, may cause greater (further reaching) strokes on your trailer's jack system. You are covering a lot more real estate!

    Good luck and Enjoy!
  • The last 2 are for pin box and suspension. I have the moride setup #1 and like it. the 6 point level up is great if you like ease of set up and break down. Again I like and enjoy the auto level function but I only stay for a month or less as I still own a business and trying to sell out in the next 18 months so I can semi full time. They are worth the money in my opion. Big Sky 3625RE (39.5 ft.) 15,500 pounds with moride pin box and suspension with 6 point auto level.Hope this helps you. Have fun and enjoy life on the camping road.
