I've been around numerous campers in my life and know about the roof, soft floors and ect.. I'm just looking for input on a Kountry Star camper. I got the thing for $800 WITH the 5th wheel hitch. Floors solid, roof redone 2 years ago, Nice inside, New tires, breaks, springs, and bearings last time used. It's just dirty and hasn't gone far in 5 years. ALL paperwork books and receipts. It is a 1990 27'. Any common issues? How good are they? Any input would be great and I hope to do my part in helping with other peoples problems as well. Thanks!

You need to open a Photobucket account.

Photobucket

Once your account is created you can "UPLOAD" photos to it, you can create folders to save different groups of photos, just put them all in the bucket. You will notice when you have a photo open on the right side there are different URL address for the photo. Click on the address that is labeled "Direct" it will flash "copied".

Then to post, (back to RV.NET)at the top of the "quote" or "Advanced Post Form" you will see a icon at the top that looks like a picture of a mountain (5th from right).
Click that icon a screen will open, right click in the top box "Enter the complete URL for the image" then click the paste, the address for the picture will appear in the box, tab to the Height box set to 400, tab to width box and set to 600 (max size), then click finish. The text added to the screen is the link to you picture.

We did the same for our 1st 5er, here is a picture from our PhotoBucket account.

Good luck, waiting to see your unit.

Once again I appreciate all the input. The tires were new right when it was parked. I think he also left the windows open a bit because it did not smell at all. And the carpet I will clean. I have a machine because my wife owns a cleaning business and I do her carpet jobs. And of course I'll be happy to post pictures. I just installed the rails in my truck today and I go get it on Friday!! I can't wait.

Sounds like a real bargain for a Newmar! The Kountry Star was their entry level fiver, but still a big step in quality above most other fivers on the market at the time. Newmar quality has always been top notch.

Newmars are noted as being very good RVs. It looks like it has no slides, which should be a plus in something this elderly. Replace the tires, and clean and wax the exterior. Go over the interior with lots of mold inhibiting products (bleach is cheap). Open the vents and windows and put a fan in it to ventilate it. Check the cabinets for delamination. Use a lot of fabreze or something like that on the fabrics, maybe even get a carpet cleaner in to "wash" the carpet to get rid of molds. Replace that mattress too

Let us know how it turns out with some before and after pictures.

Fridge and a/c work. Ill know about the rest of the appliances when I get propane. I know how to fix all those things anyway. I also know refrigeration and have all the tooling if I needed. The whole rig seems really solid.

Here's the ad I bought it from. http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/rvs/3975897428.html

Does the refrigerator work, water heater work, A/C and furnace work? If they are in working order you got a bargain but even if they don't and the rest of the rig is solid those items can be replaced.

Thanks for all your responses! I know it's made by Newmar corp. as I have all the owners manual, service manual, delivery paperwork, trip logs, and title. I was just wondering if it was a good one or not. My buddy had a 32' cherokee by forest river and it was a 1998 loaded with all sorts of problems.

If it was manufactured by Newmar, which I think it was, they are considered high quality. I don't know anything more than that about the unit, but for $800 I think you are off to a good start, especially if the roof and floor are solid. Heck, my hitch cost more than that!
