Is there a way to minimize the clunking sound coming from the hitch pins on the rails? When I accelerate there is a clunking sound that is annoying. Bigger hitch pins maybe?
You can adjust the rails too. If they aren't spaced quite right you can have some play between your hitch and the rails. Sometimes it's just the hitch, too. I have a Curt slider that is just a clanky beast. My Andersen by contrast is totally smooth and quiet.
I have older used Reese rails and am using a new B&W Patriot. When I set the Patriot in the rails and pin it I can lift it up slightly. That cause some clanking. I made some rubber pads from an old bike inner tube. Cured the problem.
If you have loose pins and you "know" the noise comes from them---I can't help. But any "clunking" starting or stopping I ever heard came from the hitch pin sliding in the hitch.
My old Curt Q16 had small feet and small pins, made lots of noise from the legs and the sloppy in the hitch head. B&W 18k Patriot fixed all of the issues.
