Norcold refrigerator door

I have a 2009 Jayco Designer with a Norcold 10cf refrigerator. The door has dropped down and rubs the bottom edge of the fridge. In addition the latch that keeps the door open when stored does not line up with the hole unless I lift the bottom of the door. In looking at the Norcold parts diagram, it looks like there may be a bushing to hold the door up. Is this correct? If so, what is the size of the bushing? Would a nylon bushing from the hardware store work to replace this bushing? How do you remove the door to replace this bushing? Thanks in advance...
  • You can also purchase a piece from Norcold to add additional bracing to the hinge on the bottom of the door. We put one on our 10 cf. We were not having a problem, just added it for extra protection.
  • My Norcold fridge door fell clear off because the bottom hinge broke. I made a repair, and in so doing, I used a stack of flat washers to raise the door.

There is a screw at the top of the top hinge. If you retract it you'll be able to raise the door up and off the bottom hinge pin. Put you spacer on the pin and re-install the door. :)

If you determine that your bottom hinge is broken you can contact Norcold for a repair kit. I didn't learn that until after I made my own repair, which has worked quite well for a couple years and about 25,000 miles.
