I do believe you are confusing a fifth wheel hitch in truck bed with a receiver hitch on rear of trailer. - Baja_ManExplorer

We had a hitch installed on our new FW in 2012 at a professional welder's place. Cost, including fabricating the hitch out of square tubing, reinforcing the I-Beams about six feet forward toward the axles and installing a plug-in for the boat trailer, was about $500. Since I was planning on double towing with this FW, just like I did for 18 years with my old FW, I wanted a very strong and stable hitch and I believe I have gotten it. If you ever plan on double towing, I would suggest that you not go with a bolt on hitch as I don't believe they would be as strong an attachment as welding properly. You buy a $20,000-$30,000 FW, don't go cheap on a hitch, the consequences are not worth it.
John, I sent you a PM.....I have a few doubles towing questions, thanks - DelawareCamperExplorer$250 to have a pullrite installed a few years back

- AH64IDExplorerPersonally I would not trust bikes on a bumper mounted receiver. The bumpers are too thin for that load and that is before the welding quality is considered.
- Bamaman11ExplorerMany use such hitches for bicycle racks. If that's all you're doing, you can get away with a clamp on receiver hitch for the 4" square tube rear bumper--only $56.
If you were towing something like a boat or a cycle trailer, it's a different matter. - JohndanielscpaExplorerMy hitch was a manufacturer option with a cost of $200. Local options ranged from $375 to $500.

Maybe read the original post more carefully. We're talking about a hitch on the rear of the trailer here...
Film at Eleven - 140 to install the base of B&W 5th wheel Companion and 45.00 to assemble and install the hitch.
B.O. - AH64IDExplorerNot a 5er but really no difference. I have had custom hitches welded to both of my TT's. The first one was $250 and the second was $325. Both hitches are as strong, or stronger, than the frame.
I have double towed and used them to carry bike racks. Very handy to have. - CWSWineExplorerFilm at Eleven - 140 to install the base of B&W 5th wheel Companion and 45.00 to assemble and install the hitch.
