Accu Slide

I'd rather not have a hyd. slide system. Far fewer problems or things to go wrong.
The other thing is hyd's are just not needed unless the slide is quite large.

Our slide is rack and pinion electric and is of a seemingly very crude design. It has worked perfectly over the years, even after I broke the plastic guide for it.

Accu-Slide 4-Corner Compression Slide System = Electric motor with cables and pulleys. Hate to say it but I prefer hydraulic or a good electric motor rack and pinion as a #2 choice. #3 is where Id put the Accu-Slide. Way distant #4 and I really don't see me getting a rig with one is the Schwintek In-Wall Slide-Out system Seen many issues on this forum and on the Suite Owners Forums. Randu

My hubby looked at an Open Range last week (darn, I wasn't with him!!!). And he's impressed with their slide system.......says he prefers it over hydrolics (we had a MH with lousy hydrolics that leaked all over --- No matter WHO tried to fix it!!!!). That being said, you'll get as many different answers as you would if you asked which pickup is better, Ford, Dodge and Chevy. :) I LOVE their floor plan!!!!!

I have owned an Open Range since May of 2008. It was the 162 unit built by OR and has cable controlled slides made by BAL. They have been flawless. You will also find that this system reduces the weight of the slide by several hundred pounds. I personally have had hydraulic and gear driven slides and it probably will be personal choice as there are some folks that will tell you cables or gear driven or hydraulic are******and they have never had them. I have had all three and have no complaints with the cable system. They run quiet and weigh less.

I also have an Open Range. It was the 82nd made. I'm not impressed with the cables. They break and are way to difficult to adjust!

I have had my Open Range for two years with no problems and no warranty work. Best RV I have owned and I have had many. Slide system works every time.

I not trying to convince anyone as to which is best.
The cable slides have all motors and systems enclosed and out of the weather.Everything is installed above the floor.
The cable slides are not shaft driven. Therefore there are no holes drilled into the frame/beam to accommodate the shaft. As a result a smaller lighter beam can be used resulting in weight savings ans some innovative floor plans. Many of the currently popular front living room floor plans have incorporated cable slides.
CAble slides systems are not foolproof. Cables break and require periodic adjustment to keep them aligned. Cable systems use electric motors and switches that can also fail.
Hydraulic systems break as well pumps fail,hoses leak etc.
Cable systems are becoming more mainstream because they allows for significant weight reduction.
I have 5 cable slides in my RV I have adjusted cables myself twice. MY RV is about 1000-1500# lighter than comparable models. I am satisfied with the cable slides

Had a Mobile Suites with hydraulic and feared every time we set up. Had landing gear ram failures, slides creeping out while driving down the road and continuous hydraulic leaks. Never again hydraulic. Have had mechanical gear driven slides no problem and now have had an Open Range with 3 slides with the cable system for 3 years and it has operated flawlessly. As another poster said all of the mechanism is inside the unit on top of the slide out of any dirt or weather. I would definitely have it again.

Mine OR was built in 2010. I have not had any issues with slide system or cable failure.
