We have had a fifth wheel for years. We go south for three months in the winter. I like to sew and paint and my husband has hobbies. We have been considering a toyhauler to use the garage as a craft and hobby room. I'm wondering about rules in campgrounds about having the back down if in a large enough parking space.

Put it down. They can only tell you to put it back up.

If it's within your space there should be no problem. We do all the time. Always nice when there is a view.

I've seen photos of the door equipped with an awning above, a railing and landing gear. This makes a neat portch.

I've never heard of an issue about having the rear deck open, assuming space is available for it. Having your rear deck open wouldn't matter if you're sitting there or doing crafts, it's your space. I've seen an issue arise where a toy hauler owner opened up and was selling his crafts inside the campground, but he had also been running some wood shop equipment before with it closed up and the neighbors had enough.

lol. or a bear. I left ours down one night while camping in the Beartooth Mountains...left a garbage bag hanging on the handle and a bear got into it!

the only campground that I know of that limits putting the ramp down is Mission Bay RV Resort in San Diego. They only allow the ramp down in certain sites. My wife likes to sew in our garage :)

We open ours at our site from time-to-time, and haven't had an issue. We can open it level, and have a railing around the edges, an awning above, and a screen between the deck and the garage, or all the way down for use as an entry/loading/unloading ramp.

Opens up over an incline making the end around 5' off the ground. When opened on a flat surface its about 3' off the ground. This is not a toyhauler. It has a door like a toyhauler that makes the rear deck.

Ditto. Isn't a problem at all. I used to do it all the time when I had my Desert Fox TH.

A TH with garage, using the garage as a hobby room is an awesome idea.

Yes I leave may door down as well especially at the beach.

(Sorta)- like instead of staking my matting down outside my rig I used rocks only to trip over one in the middle of the night ripping off my toenail.
