Question

I'm planning to add a sub frame and third axle to my fiver. Anyone willing to post some photos of the undercarriage of your heavier/better built triple axle. If you post a picture please state what your gvwr is along with the photos. The depth of your main frame might be interesting as well.

This is what the crossbrace right at the front axle looks like after repair (it broke). Voltage 3950.

Thanks for the picture. Was it a thin walled 2x2 tube that split?

No. If you zoom in, you can see 1/4" rods that formed the original web. Several of those are snapped near the middle. The repair added c channel. The L at the top of the brace was also snapped off at the main frame i-beam.

Do keep in mind that on a tri-axle setup the center axle's wheels will scrub and wear faster than the outboard axles / tires.  Why on big trucks, at least one of the 3 axles are air lift.
